Everyone remember this? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/thr8Ja9rR24" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Maybe Morey had good reason to “low-ball” Parsons during negotiations. After just three years in the league, Parsons has already had ongoing back issues. $15mil per year w/ a player option & trade kicker is a lot to risk on a player with a bad back & who isn’t a superstar level talent (or All-star for that matter). The Rockets signed a player in Ariza, who (my opinion) fits just as well as Parsons, plays better defense, is a great finisher, has championship experience, who KNOWS HIS ROLE, and was cheaper. Parsons has a lot more to prove. I believe that there’s more to his back than we know. It sucks that we lost him... but we had a another expensive superstar player here a few years BACK with the same issues, and it’s taken this long for Morey to turn this team around. Parsons was too much of a risk for that price.
Parsons was going to get a max, or near max contract regardless. If anything, he could have used that offer as leverage for another team pursuing him, waited longer, allowing the Rockets a better opportunity to improve this team. He had a choice. No one better than Parsons was going to sign with Dallas. I don’t buy the sign now or miss the opportunity bs.
I hope his spine snaps in half when he goes up for a dunk next time. IM PISSED AS HELL RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People want him to get injured, damn y'all are cold. Not his fault Dallas offered him a contract that he is never going to get in his life.
Wow... Let me clarify that I’m not hoping he gets injured. I’m just curious to know if there is some private concern with his back being that he’s already had back problems pre-max money.
Chandler better watch out, his back could go out at any moment. With all that money he has to lug around, anything could happen.
there is understandable disappointment in losing Parsons, particularly when the Rockets tried to do the right thing by him and let him hit RFA. I don't believe wishing injury is the right way to respond though. He was a nice role player, a true bargain for the Rockets and significant in landing Howard. All that said, I am happy not be saddled with $15MIL pa and a 15% trade kicker for a nice role player. Ariza is a good replacement and will do fine as a third option as opposed to a first option last time he played with the team. We have 3 solid defenders around Harden now which is a silver lining
I think it would benefit us all to just let Parsons go and look to the future. What's done is done no sense in letting Parsons betrayal turn us in to d-bags. He wasn't worth 15 mil that's what we have to keep telling ourselves because frankly it's the truth. We have a great GM, let's see what he has in store, instead of wishing for Parsons knee to give out.
