Since we are always positioning ourselves for next year. I thought I would see how much cap space we have for 2015 free agents. The projected cap is 66.5mil for next year and I just projected it to be 70 million for the year after: <table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=4><tr><th></th><th>2015</th><th>2016</th></tr><tr><td>Howard</td><td> $22,359,364.00 </td><td> $23,282,457.00 </td></tr><tr><td>Harden</td><td> $15,756,438.00 </td><td> $16,784,031.00 </td></tr><tr><td>Ariza</td><td> $8,200,000.00 </td><td> $7,800,000.00 </td></tr><tr><td>9xMinimum cap hold</td><td> $4,725,837.00 </td><td> $4,891,239.00 </td></tr><tr><td> </td><td> $(51,041,639.00)</td><td> $(52,757,727.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Projected Cap</td><td> $66,500,000.00 </td><td> $70,000,000.00 </td></tr><tr><td>Available Salary</td><td> $15,458,361.00 </td><td> $17,242,273.00 </td></tr></table> If we don't sign any first round picks and we get rid of dmo and tjones and sign all minimum guys we could pay someone $15mil next year and $17mil the year after next unless dwight opts out and in which case we have $40 mil. So with 15mil we could target the following guys in 2015: Rajon Rondo Brook Lopez Al Jefferson Marc Gasol Kevin Love Goran Dragic LaMarcus Aldridge Tim Duncan Manu Ginobili Tony Parker Our pay probably wouldn't be high enough for Love, Lopez, Gasol and Aldridge. Unless morey is planning on flipping ariza again. If he sign our 1st rounders and/or keep tjones and Dmo our cap space will be lower.
Hilarious how we're the only "contending team" that is willing to punt away seasons and our star's primes for cap flexibility. Really starting to question Morey...
It isn't just about free agency in 2015, it is about setting yourself up to make trades between December 15th and the trade deadline for potential free agents or disgruntled stars. You need to match salaries and have attractive assets to include in the trade, and it looks like that is what Houston has and Morey's new course of action. Have faith; it sucks going from Bosh and Parsons to Ariza and cap flexibility, but let's see how this plays out before we start with the ZOMG!
You should probably include Beverley's qualifying offer, and the projected cap in 2016 is the new tv deal cap, it's going to be much higher than 70.
time to plan lifting our skirts up for the next wave! This team is pitiful with its approach. We have 2 ****ing players that are the best at their position...2!
I'm sick of this.. We keep on talking about future flexibility. I'm not blaming Morey or even Les. I understand why we didn't match Parsons. But future flexibility is starting to wear on me. We need some freaking results.
Well this is the max we could offer with all minimum guys. If the tv deal does increase the cap to 75 mil we would have max money, but you have to realize we would probably won't have 9 minimum guys.
That is not Morey's decision but, Le$ Alexander.'s Why is anyone even surprised? He always promises to pay the tax and NEVER does. I do not even know why people still believe him when he says it.
People soon forget Lin and Asik was signed before Harden landed in our laps.. the poison pills are gone and Chandler went for the dough! so who cares let's roll!
If there is ONE THING we learned this offseason, it is that most elite players choose money over titles. Carmelo Anthony, Bosh, and (soon Wade).. .Guys are not going sacrifice 20-30M to play for a team with a higher chance to win it all. We need to work hard to get the other team to trade us that max player next season or entice the other team to do a sign-and-trade for guys like LaMarcus and Love. As long as we are roughly in the ballpark of the super max then that's fine.
