Bima or any other cap expert....can we get an explanation of trading Ariza verses outright signing?

Does it help us get Stephenson or an amnestied Boozer or absorb someone like Rondo? If not, and no Parsons, meh.

Trade Motiejunas, Canaan, wait to sign Johnson until after free agency and we can offer a free agent like Monroe 13 million a season.

Maybe we can s&t Motiejunas, Canaan, Pelicans pick to Pistons for Monroe at 13 million. Sign Miller on a 2 year MLE, Daniels with BAE and Nelson with veteran minimum.

    Beverley/Nelson
    Harden/Daniels/Johnson
    Ariza/Miller
    Monroe/Jones
    Howard/Monroe

Chris Paul would be a great addition, but it's not going to happen.

Outright signing requires us to renounce exceptions to operate above the cap if we are above the cap with salary considerations and caphold considerations from the exceptions. As it stands now, we either use cap space or use the exceptions.

    Without signing Ariza:

    $45,711,600 + 8mil (Ariza salary) + 8 mil (Asik TPE) + MLE (5 mil) + BAE (2.5 mil)

    = 68.5 mil

    With signing Ariza outright:

45,711,600 + 8 = 53 mil which leaves us 10 mil to work with for signing free agents.

Basically 10 mil to throw at players (single or multiple) vs 8 mil, 5 mil, and 2.5 mil to throw at 3 different players.

BUT I'm not sure how rookie signings work. Can someone clarify if we are able to sign Nick Johnson to the team?

And the reason why exceptions count towards the cap is because with them considered, we are able to operate above the cap as an exception to the capspace rule.

If we want to solely work under, we just don't use any exception.

Repped. Valuable information and I can see how we can use this to our betterment. To be honest, if Ariza can replace 80% of Parsons' offense while bringing his much better defense it could at least be a washout. Bring in a couple nice complementary players and this team could be better than last years.

    It wasn't the 2015 pick?

And we got NO lotto pick and Ariza plus whoever else we sign with 10m

Seems like a good deal to me.

We did get a lotto pick and Ariza instead but that's hardly a fair trade.

I'm really upset. Those saying we'll be better than last year are nuts...I'm struggling to understand that point of view.

Lin and Asik were goners ANYWAY.
I'm not so mad about that.

I'm disappointed we didn't accept the team option on Parsons. Probably some under the table crap from his agent that forced us to release him to the market.

The only, only problem I have with Morey is how we didn't add ANYBODY and that now Morey is just giving up next season to play the free agency russian roulette again.

Yeah, we can wait, but what about Dwight? What about Harden? They didn't ****ing come here to TANK.
