Congrats to Germany. They were the best team throughout the tourney.

Argentina played well but they're going to have nightmares with the missed chances.

Congratulations to Germany. I was hoping for Argentina to pull it off but it was a great game by both sides.

messi had a great chance at a goal in the first half and whiffed it.

he was a non-factor all game. it is what it is.

best believe argentina media will give him some heat despite higuain, aguero, and palacio's faults

Lol, dumb posts. I thought he made that headbutt. He was close.

Germany made a sick goal with several minutes away from a shoot out. Congrats to them.

I have already said he is the best player in the world.

Putting up duders in semis and finals does tarnish his legacy.

It does. But he's still the best ever to do it to me. His list of accomplishments is untouchable.

The World cup win would just seal it for the majority. But he didn't do it. Now he belongs in the conversation for most.

Yeah he is. I was just thinking that as well. Dude will be the biggest celebrity there for 4+ years at least.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

So glad that this didn't go to penalty kicks.

Boateng was huge on defense today despite what *ahem* one poster says.

I thought he did a good job to get the look, but he missed. It felt like it was not a big deal at the time because Argentina was shutting down Germany's offense and it felt like the game was theirs to win. I would not call a final score 0-1 choking considering this is the finals and the defense was stellar on both sides.

    For you maybe.

But for someone like me and plenty of others who have personally watched players like Maradona and Zidane with incredible individual performances in late stages of the WC, it is hard for us to rate him above those players.

He will always be in the conversation but he is not going to seal the deal until he wins the WC. And I think this was a golden opportunity for him.

I would have even considered giving him a pass if he performed brilliantly and came up short but he didnt.

argentina losing isn't the "choke" because football is a team game but 0 goals in the knockout rounds combines with that miss and looking pedestrian for most of the match is gonna get him some heat from those maradona loving Argentine media.

I am happy for Klose :)

The man deserves it after coming close so many times.

    Class act.
