Perhaps, but do you really have faith that McHale could somehow make it work?
    I don't think so.

Kicker cannot cause the player to get paid more than his max salary.

    Trading team pays it

Salary + Kicker will be used to consider whether a trade is valid or not

Player can opt out except when receiving team is hard capped (apron)

Given parsons was a nonfactor in the Portland series, how can you say having parsons increases our chances in beating Portland or advancing in the playoffs? parsons was negative in plus/minus vs Portland and worse vs Oklahoma City.

Nick Young owns a player option for 2014-15 worth $1.22 million and he will decline it. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Young will officially be a free agent on July 26 as the deadline to exercise the option is June 25.

Yes sir I would take Wesley Johnson as well.

I just posted some option so ole buddy could see we have plenty of options.

Personally, I can see the advantages or disadvantages both ways. But the thing to remember is that if we don't match Parsons, we wouldn't have 15 million to try to pay other free agents. Not matching Parsons, for us, would open up about 3 million in cap space. If we trade Asik for no incoming salary, we would then have around 11 million or so (Asik's cap+Parson's cap hit).

The Asik trade is the big unknown right now. Can we convert that to a three way deal? Do we want to try to get Anderson out of that deal, even though he is coming off a major injury and wouldn't help our defense against the 4 much? Or are we happy with just their future first, which would be a valuable trade piece for us if we needed it.

I can find very valid points from people who say not to match Parsons, but IMO it is an easy decision. As long as Alexander actually is ok paying more money for the roster like he claimed he was, you match that contract. It isn't too long so it won't become an albatross for us like Arenas or Lewis etc. It gives us a lot better depth on the wings with Ariza which should allow neither Harden or Parsons have to play 40+mins a game. It would decrease our future flexibility somewhat, but we would be very close to the cap anyway and would be focusing on minimum signigs and exceptions in either case. Then, if we really needed to, since we had both Parsons and Ariza, we would have the depth at that position to be able to trade one of them in q package if we needed to without leaving a huge hole at SF (like Dallas is about to have).

The Ariza contract is 4 years which would already make it nearly impossible to create max cap space next offseason anyway. We are too close to being one of the elite Western Conference teams to willingly choose to take a step backwards.

Ariza is not overpaid, so it would be easy to trade him if you had a chance to upgrade to a real max talent player. Parsons contract you could not give away, he would be like Lin and cost you players or picks or both.

Les would not mind overpaying for a max talent like melo, Lebron or bosh. That doesn't mean he wants to throw away 15 million on a player like parsons who won't really make the team any better next year since he isn't any better than ariza. I think the clear thing for les to do is to say let him take Cubans money. We don't need him that bad.

My best guess is that all these people who are suggesting the Rockets let Parsons go are Mavs fans. Pretty much the only logical explanation for it.

Morey always has tricks up his sleeve.

    That said, Rockets will match.

Parsons only sucks on defense because we run a Mickey Mouse offense and have a Donald Duck coach. If they play the same fast style offense _ Trevor may not be much of a difference on defense. Just like Iggy when he was in Denver with George Karl. Fast pace teams don't play good defense. And Parsons spends time running the point just like Harden... Those two use too much energy on offense. And Harden is too fat for all that ish anyway. He catches his breath on the defensive end.

You known Parsons was a good defender his rookie year... And you've seen Parsons shut down D-Will when he went off for like 20 points in the 1st quarter are something.

If Morey doesn't match the contract _ I bet you see Parsons playing better defense on Aaron team with a legitimate system and a legit coach.

There's only two reasons to let Parsons walk....the apron and his tradable value next year.

IMO, the apron really isn't that big of a deal. Look at our potential cap situation under the "worst case" scenario cap wise:

    21.4 - Howard
    14.7 - Harden
    14.7 - Parsons
    8.6 - Ariza
8.3 - Lin TPE (assuming you use it)
    5.3 - Full MLE
    2.0 - Full BAE
    1.6 - TJones
    1.5 - DMo
    1.0 - Daniels
    0.9 - Beverley
    0.8 - Johnson

Exactly 80.8, or right on the apron. This assumes we don't unload any salary and use every single asset we have to it's maximum value. I don't see that. So the apron isn't an issue in my eyes.

Regarding Parson's tradability, I do expect his stats to dip a little with Ariza in the fold now. Still, by next year he will essentially be on a one year contract and wings of his caliber are valuable around the league. Also, don't forget that after 2015, we will have all of our 1st available again, so we can unload him like we did Lin if we have to.

    I think we match.

Maybe I'm counting wrong, but that's only 12 contracts...
