Paul Pierce, Luol Deng, Danny Granger, Carlos Boozer, Brook Lopez, Emeka Okafor, Marc Gasol, Roy Hibbert, Eric Gordon, Andrew Bogut, Tyson Chandler, all had similar salaries last season. I'd take Parsons over every single one of them.

Trade for what? Nothing of any value. You have to give value to get value, and cp with that contract is not a value, he's a liability.

He's jeremey Lin, you can trade him along with a first round draft pick. Let Cuban give up a pick in a year or two to get rid of him. I think Morey is smarter than that. Morey screwed Cuban into taking parsons. Nice gambit. Now Dallas can't go after Durant. Lol. Durant isn't going to go to Dallas to play with cp. nice move dm, you played mark Cuban like a fiddle.

That's a pretty low bar, like the special Olympics. You would take a bad contract over all the worst contracts in the nba? Wow, faint praise. How about a good contract, not a bad one.

if that story is even true, i'm sure it'[s not begging.

At most it's..."ayo DM....match them bruh" "we need CP"

CP is a glue player....besides what he does on the court, he's also that dude that keeps the locker room from getting outta control.

DM shouldn't let ego get in the way here....

Not overpaying anyone is great...but ever so often.....you might have to.

Cuban made you have to do it because, outside of Houston...thats what he's worth.

DM is a shrewd dude, but he isn't always gonna be a perfect tactician.

This time....CP dealing the cards and you underpaid him for years....

You have a great player that others covet and are willing to pay.

Don't let the ego cause you to make a mistake.

You cant just let this dude go for nothing at all....

CP is the perfect example of term "asset" and to let him go for nothing goes against the Morey way.

Every player cant be productive, yet cheap forever...

    Eventually, you have to pay...

Just match and keep it moving.

reason 1: You match Parsons to keep him off of a division rivals roster.
reason 2: He is a really good player who is our glue guy
    reason 3: It's a short contract
reason 4: He is the perfect third option behind Harden/Howard

For starters, he's younger, better size, better passer, better shot creator, better basketball IQ, more intangibles.

Anyone complaining about treating players like assets also arguing to let Parsons go? Seems like keeping him would be the non-asset approach.

Parsons contract has now turned him into a scrub?
So you guys forgot how good Parsons is?

Yes he will be over paid but that doesn't mean you can replace him.
He brings a lot to the table for this team.

If dwight and harden want to win rings then why would they be fighting to have him back? If he isn't worth the money then why is our 2 stars wanting him so bad?

We might think we know players as fans and watching but howard and harden know what's best for the team and if they want him there then he needs to be there

Houston is in the same spot that okc was in with harden. I just hope houston doesn't screw themselves like okc did

Okc didn't want to pay 4 max contracts which is bad for business when it comes to building a competent bench. Houston should fear the same seeing as how the rockets bench was pure garbage

No bro, once again nobody will want to be part of that contract, you wil have to once again pair it up with picks and you studs to trade that terrible contract.

I find funny that the people that are so enamored with the idea of matching Parsons make terrible points:

    - "You guys seem to be worried about saving Les money" - Great point, I am really worried about his money as a diehard Rockets fan

    - "....Pippen......." - wait, did you just mention Pippen in a Parsons issue? dam

    - "Cap flexibility is a non issue" - Nobody is talking about cap situation to sign players, it´s about having 15M attached to an untradable player for 3 years, meaning you loose "trading flexibility" and mite have chemistry problems if a 15M player gets outplayed by a very similar guy making half the money.

Man, always knew this guy was overrated on here, but damm, that is too much for me to continue arguing.

exactly. when I say "cap flexibility" I mean our ability to package picks and young talent for a polished player like Milsap (not him specifically, but players of his caliber and salary). With Parsons $15 on the books we're not only done with free agency but also done adding big pieces through trades. One we match him this team is basically set for the next 2-3 years. Do you feel comfortable with that ?

Wrong. It's definitely still possible to have big enough expiring contracts to work trade. Just one possible scenairo, the Asik/NOP 1st trade is made into a 3 way trade where the Rockets take back Garnett and his 10+ mil expiring.

That's silly. Okc is fine. They were in finals and/or western conference finals 3 of last 4 years. We can only wish the rockets would screw up like that.

No room for harden and Westbrook with Durant. No room for parsons max contract with harden and Howard. Bye bye chandler. Have fun with your new drinking buddy mark Cuban.

Whoever thinks we can use parsons as a stretch 4 for any reasonable amount of time during a game forgets the caliber of 4s we have in the west. Randolph love griffin Aldridge dirk cousins Duncan Unibrow etc.

The question about matching Parsons boils down to are we wanting to contend this year or are we happy just waiting for something to maybe happen at some point in the future. If you are happy wasting seasons with Harden and Howard, then sure, let Parsons go and keep hoping and praying that a 3rd star falls into our laps.
