Alright I'm a little confused again. If the Asik trade is used to facilitate an ariza trade (in order to stay over the cap and retain the exceptions) then doesn't the Lin trade (if not a s&t drop us under the cap anyway? I assumed the we'd work out a S&T with the lakers and NOP to facilitate the Lin trade and stay over the cap and just hold off in the Asik trade after the parsons deadline to facilitate a simultaneous trade for another player or create a TPE. Either way both Lin and asik have to S&T's (before 11pm) for us to stay over the cap right?
Just because Dan Fegan, Cuban's known butt-buddy, steered Parsons toward Cuban, who could have gone after Deng or Ariza from the beginning but wanted to stick it to Morey... But then again, hell, knowing how Morey was probably offering no more than what Parsons is worth, I can't blame him for taking $46,000,000. But did Parsons have to sign with Cuban at what looked like the Blue Oyster Bar from the Police Academy movies?
To add to that, I am under the impression that he's an agent/PR guy that works on the endorsement side of the house. He started showing up with Howard was seriously considering us and he knows a lot about Parsons. He even mentioned that his boy Dan was going to work his magic and get Parsons the max a few days before the deal was announced.
someone should have copy pasted that and sent it via twitter to dM. or roe should have communicated that to DM. if he really watches the boards
I chucksnorted Probably wanted to use Parsons to help get ((channeling Matthew Mcconaughey)) "Ladies! Ladies! Ladies! Well alright alright"....
suns tried to sign ariza even though they'd re-upeed tucker. t.jones plays both forward positions. so maybe they'd like him to play sf? t.jones, draft rights, pelicans pick, plus those unguaranteed contracts to make it work. it'd have to be worked into the asik trade as a multi-team deal. otherwise these unguaranteed contracts get hit with a trade restriction where they can't be packaged for a certain period.
yes. We still have around $6 M I believe and the Parsons contract allows us to go into the luxury tax after signing one more player. If we trade Asik after, I think we can also trade/absorb some new salaries making a Ryan Anderson trade possible, for example.
As I understand it we have three options if we are matching Parsons: 1. Sign Ariza with cap space. In this case, we'd have to move the Asik trade up to today so we can try to finish all signings before we match Parsons. We'd lose the MLE. 2. Complete Ariza signing via sign-and-trade. Keep the MLE. Timing of the Asik trade doesn't matter if we will be using exceptions to fill out the remainder of the roster. 3. Swing for the fences to add an elite point guard or a legit defensive 4 by expanding the Asik trade. Depending on the team's salary after this move we may or may not need to complete the Asik trade today.
Why don't we go after sergio Lull ? Propose him around 3M/year, think he'd be great and could provide 20minutes of pesky defense with Bev right away
