Considering that we were willing to do 22M for Bosh, can anyone enlighten us about the remaining cap situation after the Ariza signing. Is it as simple as 22-8M= 14M left before we resign parsons? If thats the case, I'm not too down on Bosh considering we can improve our depth across the board. Might be a blessing in disguise.

We have technically not completed the Asik trade yet.

Rockets & Pelicans looking at re-working trade to include Ryan Anderson.

Not really, only expand the trade into a 3 way or something in that nature.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we wend up getting Anderson instead of the Pelicans pick. Nor if the pick is sent to a third team where we get a PF or PG in return.

We will also keep Capella, Jones, Motie etc, which means that our cap space won't be simple msth, more like 8-9mill left. Once we match Parsons, all gone.

Morey might wait until after matching to move Asik, get the larger MLE and more flexibility in the Asik trade.

I'm assuming the Lin TPE was used to sign ariza so that we could continue to operate above the cap and not lose our MLE right? So we could still match parsons tomorrow and use asik and rework the trade after matching parsons to include a player instead of only a pick coming back, but all we could do is use Asik to trade for a player. Doing a salary dump as originally planned does no good (aside from getting the pick) since clearing his salary won't allow us to sign anyone.

I'm not sure, but I think people were considering that we would have to cut/trade everyone but Beverley/Harden/Howard then sign Bosh and match Parsons. The Rockets will still (as of right now) have guys like Jones, Canaan, DMo, Covington, Daniels rather than trading them away for cap space, so we have less space than you think.

    Beverley- 900k
    Harden- 14.7 million
Parsons- 2.9 qualifying offer cap hold
    Ariza- 8.6 million
    Howard- 21.4 million
    Jones- 1.6 million
    DMo- 1.5 million
    Canaan- 800k
    Covington- 800k
Daniels- 2.2 million (projection- Bi annual exception?
    Johnson- 800k

All adds to around 58 million which is about 5 million under the 63 million dollar soft cap, and this is after the Asik trade goes through. The Daniels salary is a projection, and I'm just wondering if he could be a bi annual exception.

Ryan Anderson would be a pretty good role player, but I think Illyasova would be slightly better so I'd rather get the TPE from the Pelicans.

Honestly if we come out of this having re-signed Parsons, and having acquired Ariza, Illyasova, Okafor and DJ Augustin then we've got nothing to worry about. That's a badass team.

How would we get Augustin or Okafor? Surely not with veteran minimum contacts, I mean maybe Okafor if we get lucky but Augustin just came off a career season averaging 15 points, 5 assist, a steal on 42/41/88% shooting. He's definitely going to be looking for a MLE.

Anyways, we could still get a roster close to what you projected with

    Asik to Pelicans
Motiejunas, Rockets 2017 first + euro stash to Bucks
Ilyasova, Withey(or Ajinca) + Pelicans 2015 first to Houston

Sign either Brooks or Jameer Nelson with veteran minimum.

    Beverley/Brooks/Canaan
    Harden/Daniels/Johnson
    Parsons/Ariza
    Ilyasova/Jones/Covington
    Howard/Withey

+ Pelicans 2015 first, we make out of this off season like bandits.:cool:

If we match Parsons we will have MLE and BAE. Most of MLE for Augustin, BAE for Okafor.

Forget trading D-Mo. We need the depth and the Bucks don't want to pay Illyasova 8m for each of the next two years to play on their young team. I bet we can get him and a second rounder for nothing at all. Worst case we take him straight up for the TPE created from an Asik trade consummated after we match Parsons.

Then pick up Augustin and Okafor. Re-sign Daniels (we have his early bird rights don't we?). Still have the NOLA pick in our back pocket incase****.

Given the fact that the most talented team in the league just lost Lebron James, and the Spurs are another year older, I take our chances. I'm worried about the Clippers and Thunder and if they get Love then the Cavs too, but frankly who isn't? Those guys are afraid of each other.

We've got a great team and defensively improved too. Augustin, Ariza and Okafor are good defenders.

Augustin for the MLE, and Jason Smith for the BAE. Smith can be a back up C/PF. Retain Parsons and Daniels.

If Augustin refuses to come to Houston, go for Hinrich with part of the MLE.
He is older, but he still has a fair amount of game left in him.
