I think that is a fair assessment on DMO. He is one of those euro softies. I want him gone.

Now on the other two, canaan and Covington..you are making this assessment based on one SL game?

And what footage are you comparing Covington to? he only played in 7 games last year. there isn't a lot to look at.

I never understood why DMO got so much love on the board. He was quick to foul, his defense was mediocre, and he was such an inconsistent shooter.

I think we should part ways with him. Keep Jones at all costs over DMO

D-Mo's defense was not mediocre, it was much, much better than Jones.

wasn't significant enough to keep him on the floor long. he fouled too much also.

    overall,
    tjones > dmo

If we bring in a point guard I think Canaan is out. Dmo also looked like a rookie. Hopefully the rust wears off next game.

or canaan is the 3rd PG unless that's what nick Johnson is.. who are the options? I wish they could get some bigger statured pg that could D up.

what I like about tjones is the shot blocking skillset he has.. he can run from the weak side and block shots. dmo only blocks shots if he just is in the correct area of the shot.

Thing is, at least D-mo was usually in the right area.

Jones on the other hand constantly missed rotations. Neither player was good last year, but Jones was a massive liability on defense, don't let the blocks fool you.

i know hes a liability i was at two of the rockets home games vs Portland in playoffs. his athleticism only makes up for so much. the thing is jones is only 22. i think this is his 3rd year in the league? in college he only played one year?

On the other hand it's also only D-mo's 3rd year in the NBA.

I'm not ready to dump either guy, but I view the two of them as being equals at the moment. Both have potential to develop into great players, but make far to many mistakes to actually be good players at the moment.

My question is....Why is Nick Johnson playing harder than Canaan?

One is a rookie who played the orlando summer league and also played last night before flying to Vegas.
The other should be fresh and ready to go with something to prove after Lin being traded and opening up a backup spot which is his to lose.

Covington plays NO D. None what so ever.
Thank our lucky stars that Morey signed Ariza.
Covington will be back in the DL

ok fair enough assessment nick Johnson vs. canaan..probably bc nick Johnson has the all out motor game as he did in college and wants to make the team or rotation..and canaan maybe things he already made the team..i dunno..their games are different.

that's really strange about covington..i thought D was his specialty in tenn state.

Covington isn't even guaranteed more than 150K

they both have faults. dmo has a really nice post game. that jump hook is solid. but hes like a finesse player on the boards or any man to man defense.

    Dmo>Tjones

And it is no secret that Morey along with many around the league covet Dmo more than Jones.

covet as in not want to trade? question: why didn't McHale play dmo in the playoffs?

what youre saying is evengthough dmo is behind jones now he has a higher projected ceiling>?

Because McHale isn't a very good coach, just because McHale chose to play Jones over D-Mo, it doesn't means he was playing better.

    Neither was playing well FWIW.

We absolutely need a third point guard. Beverley going down absolutely killed us and we didn't have Brooks behind him and Lin.
I want Brooks back for vet min.
