Stats-wise the man is not up there. But when someone says "Oh you know, Ray Allen, or Vince, or Tmac. They're more clutch than Kobe," it's not homerism to disagree. Anyway, I'm not here to debate the so called Kobe-myths. I'll just say it goes both ways, and there are negative myths as well as positive ones. All I want is some moderation in the Dish, because everytime there is a discussion about Kobe, there inevitably are posts with the words "rapist ball hog" and "selfish douche bag" littered throughout, just to name a few. I think the forum should be a place to have clear-headed discussions aimed at making us all better-informed fans of the game. Posts like this really add nothing to the discussion, and make people who enjoy watching Kobe very uncomfortable.
You yourself admit that stat wise Kobe isn't up there yet why is it not homerism to disagree? Stats are objective they don't get fooled by NBA style dramatic shots and they don't forget misses. Kobe's style of 1 on 1 is nice to see but it just isn't winning ball. Anybody who disagrees on TD being better than Kobe is just a Kobe fanboy that's all there is to it. As for the rapist selfish ball hog rep, IMHO Kobe earned it by being selfish and developing a rep for always feuding with teammates. Its not like they have no basis Shaw Phil Jacks on and Dwight have all said he was selfish.
I feel that you are being very close minded with those statements. Numbers don't paint the whole picture, however if you go by numbers alone I suppose you are right. My point was more about cutting down the player-bashing. Nobody here imo has been personally wronged by KB, and neither have they worked as his shrink. If one's going to attach uncalled for words to a player everytime, then he is no better than the people at Lakers Ground that write Dwight Coward. It's juvenile, and we're better than this.
The only places where this is even a question are ESPN and Lakersground.net. Oh, and Clutchfans apparently.
That wouldn't be fair, not because they could necessarily play well together on the court, but because you could simply stagger their minutes. Have Shaq dominate for 8 minutes while Duncan is on the bench, and then throw Duncan in. I'd imagine there would be spacing issues with them playing together, especially given how the game is today, but I don't know.
Duncan >>>> Kobe Duncan actually defended and also never raped a teenager in Colorado... Gives Duncan a real edge.
Duncan is closer to Dream than he is to Kobe. Dream might have "only" two rings, but he is twice the player Kobe is and ten times the man.
