    Small ball? Sure

Dmo's D wasn't bad by lack of effort, usually it was bad when he tried to do too much like cover for someone else's missed assignment . He can play stopper at the 4 with good coaching.

Not to mention Duncan. I almost shed a tear just now.

Can play a great 6th man role if needed.

I'll have to go back and review the rest of the playoff games that year, but I know that Horry was THE starting PF in the Finals against Ho Grant/Orlando. Perhaps you already remembered this and I'm reading your post wrong, not sure. But there was nothing situational about Horry at PF for the Finals, and it worked to the Rockets' advantage. Rudy T inventing the stretch 4 concept right there. True innovator.

Parsons is a better 4 than Jones, period, let alone a stretch 4. Jones can 'develop' somewhere else as far as I'm concerned. Teams that are trying to win big aren't concerned about developing anyone.

Nah, but that won't stop McHale from making him do it!

That is a defensive disaster. In Parsons rookie year when he actually played defense, he was pretty damn good at defending most wings but meatier SFs gave him trouble. Ron freaking Artest of all people went off on him and scored like 20 points. So on the off chance that $45mil motivates him to play defense, he's still not gonna be up for the task.

Yeah, we are agreeing. Rudy was a true innovator.

My point is it was innovation based on need and situation. And in the playoffs down two rotation players. The best kind if innovation. I don't recall Horry ever starting in the regular season, or even playing PF much. It shocked us when he moves Horry to cover Barkley and fielded Drex, Elie and Horry. Then he finally benched Chilcutt and started all three to pull Rodman out, but that was mid series. That was his first start, I don't think Chilcutt got anymore minutes. It was becoming Drex, Elie and Horry.

And that was in large part to Maxwell and Herrera not playing.

Rudy took that lineup into the finals on the gamble ORL would stick to Shaq and not try to challenge Horry with Grant. Thus Horry as stretch 4 took neutralized Grants defensive rebounding like he did Rodman

I don't think dirk will let him play the 4. So no, he will play the 3. And Cuban will choke on his contract.

FWIW, I was calling for Horry to guard Barkley from the beginning of that series. :) I knew Barkley couldn't deal with that.

Anyone remember Horry going nuts with a bunch of fist pumps in game 5 after a late bucket?

Great, you sign Parsons for 15mil cap and 15mil salary as a backup?
I would rather keep Asik for 8mil cap space and 15mil as a backup.

Asik got paid 5mil for the past two years, what a great deal.

Btw. We also need to give kudos to ChuckyBrownFanClub for filling a big reserve roll after Herrera went down

And btw btw: my iPhone auto suggested ChuckyBrownFanClub the moment I typed chucky. Is that a user-based suggestion (I don't recall ever using the fan club on my phone) or does iPhone want us to remember him too

There's nothing to jinx. The Rockets have complete control to match or not match the offer!!
