Lin for Ariza not an upgrade, Lin is a PG, Ariza is a SF. Basically IC is our backup point guard now so you would need to compare IC to JL. It will probably pan out to be a downgrade unless we add Nelson or another PG. Ariza vs. Parsons is hands down a Parsons win there. Ariza's career skills are below the average replacement players would be. It's actually a considerable downgrade. I am usually the biggest cheerleader but rather demoralized at this point.

It would be nice if Parsons and Harden could average around 33 minutes a game this season. Harden/Parson/Ariza combo at the 2/3 is bad ass.

    Harden(33)/Ariza(15)
    Parsons(33)/Ariza(15)

Just need to add a PF, backup PG and C and were are good to go.

Wait, can't we resign AB... again!?!??

He was gold for us last year when Bev and Lin were out. We missed him in the playoffs.

I understand the frustration as I agree Ariza was pathetic last time he was here. But you have to realize he was the #1 option when he was here. He is not even a #3 option on most teams. He will be here to play Defense, grab some rebounds and hit 3's. He will not be creating his own shot and facilitating the offense. That is a HUGE difference.

If we match Parsons, Ariza will probably come off of the bench, which is a pretty darn good thing considering our bench last year was beyond pathetic. I like Asik as well but he wanted out. Lin needed to go for obvious reasons. If we can get a PF before tomorrow and match Parsons tomorrow night then I will have happy with this offseason. Hell we can probably add Birdman to that as well as a backup center.

We can still sign Daniels even if we go over the cap because he is a RA. Daniels isn't going anywhere as far as I am concerned.

Can we configure the Asik trade and send him with Dmo and a 2nd pick for Millsap..we would be set.

Looks like Luol Deng to Miami may be close....... Sam Amick saying Deng is "weighing the lay of the land in Dallas before deciding"

You'd also have to kidnap Danny Ferry's wife and children to get him to trade Millsap for Donuts to make that work.

First of all, the Rockets could have always traded Asik to a different team to clear capspace for Bosh. That was never an issue. The return would be less, but clearing capspace was never a problem.

Secondly, with Ariza signed there's no hurry to trade Asik. We only have around $5mil of capspace left with this move, which is less than the full MLE we can use if we're over the cap(assuming S&T with Washington which makes sense for both parties).

Also, for the Pelicans, supposedly their insider says that it's easier for them to make the trade after Monday for whatever cap reasons. The Rockets can easily match Parsons first, trade Asik for the pick and trade exception, and go from there with the MLE.

I think this has been overlooked by most. An upgrade over the bench from last season is sorely needed. Casspi was AWOL and the most we seems to get out of Garcia was his stare down.

I'm sure the Rockets achieved a lot of success because of that trade.

But you're right _ No way Olajuwon deserved to retire in this city. And it's not like he did anything to deserve the money on the contract that he had coming.

In a plus minus evaluation Ariza is a way better player than Linn. Add Ariza, Nick Johnson, match chandler parsons, resign Daniels, add probable lottery pick next year along with whatever available exceptions we have and this team is going to be better than last year.

Sure, but that doesn't mean he was our #1 option, he simply wasn't. Ariza might be our replacement for Parsons but that won't mean that he's a ball handler and 3rd option....well if he is we're in trouble.

PF was the biggest weakness last year. Playing Parsons there actually improves that. If you can't guard guys like LMA, making them play defense will help just as much. What's the worst that can happen? He scores 40+ in a couple of games in Houston? At least we'd have production from Parsons to offset that, compared to the absolute zero we had last year. Not saying this is the plan and I hope they come up with something better than TJones/DMo, but it's better than what happened last year.

And the success if there was no trade?

Yes. Because all great players retired with their original teams.

Like Micheal Jordan, Jerry Rice, Peyton Manning, Shaq, every member of the Pistons core that beat the Lakers, there's just no team outside of Houston that would ever let an icon go.

While it's certain (if we match) that he plays the 4 for some minutes, I fully expect to sign a player to fill that role (or try to, i.e. a true 4).
