Ariza or Parsons at the 4 will never work in the West..... that's just stupid. Parsons is no longer a traceable asset to Morey........ only keep CP25 if you think he can eventually live up to his $15 million dollar price tag.

Otherwise let his ass go....... I think Morey declines to match personally. I just think he's making Dallas sweat it out.

Not going to watch because we lost asik, lin (not a huge loss there), parsons (big loss now that ariza means we dont match) and Daniels all for nothing.
Replace with screw up Ariza... Who we were all dying to unload when he was here last time. Near universal dislike on the garm. 39% shooting from the field, 33% from 3 with us (FT at 65%). Possibly the worst seasonal performance by a Rocket SF. We want to do this again???

I hope Deng and Stephenson sign somewhere soon and then we match Parsons. Dallas already lost Vince Carter.

Dallas would be left with trying to get Marion back unless he is already gone too.

While Tyson Chandler will be an upgrade for them at the 5, he is older and has a history of battling with injuries. They would have a hole at the SF spot. And they might have to start Raymond Felton....

They better match Parsons. Let's try to actually improve from last year and not just maintain the status quo(or possibly get worse).

The truth is, the Rockets may have already made their decision and this would still be the leak they let out. No way they're going to tell the public what they're going to do.

Now if the other top FAs sign with other teams before Sunday, Dallas may be left with capspace and no one to spend it on.

We haven't lost Parsons yet. We can still potentially resign Daniels.

Losing Lin for Ariza is an upgrade. Losing Asik, while bad, was worth the risk of trying to get Chris Bosh. It is still possible to try to configure the Asik trade in a way that will allow us to improve the roster in another area. And the NOP should be valuable if we try to make a trade at the deadline, which, knowing Morey, we will.

One of the cap experts can explain this better but there is something about to happen with the CBA or cap or whatever. But there is a reason why teams are signing these guys to big contracts. They were talking about it on NBA TV but I didn't catch it all...

But I remember fans where excited about Casppi's (however you spell that scrubs name) cheap contract as well. Most of these guys get cheap contracts for a reason.

No they won't work at the 4. Parsons for stretches against backup PFs will be ok. But Ariza can back up the 2 and the 3. Harden, Ariza and Parsons will each average >30 minutes a night. Of course you have to think, that Parsons "lives up" to his contract to match - but that doesn't mean he has to play like a star. Play like last season, just a little better at everything and a lot better at D and he earns his contract.

They know they're going to match it.

They're just making Cuban sweat it out, and keeping them from going after certain players.

    1. we still can match for parsons. As well as Daniels.
    2. Ariza was an #1 option back then, not now.

If I understand correctly, even if the do match CP25's contract before signing more talent, they would be operating over the cap and can use their MLE and BAE to sign a FA while over the cap.

Chicago has to amnesty Boozer to sign Gasol, if they can't find a trade for him (and likely won't), so he might be available on the cheap. IMO we don't need his rebounding or his defense, but his toughness and vet leadership could help.

I don't get how we will be unable to give the Asik money to sign a FA until Monday when we were trying to sign Bosh then match Parsons. If we cant clear Asik's hold tonight or tomorrow then there was never any way we could have landed Parsons + Bosh in the first place.

Or are we just less aggressive with the timing of the deal now? We're resigned to not signing anyone else? That or we're not matching Parsons...

Hopefully Morey spins that 3-way with NO/Was in the next few hours.

In 2 years, there will be a huge TV deal signed with the NBA. After that happens, the salary cap is expected to jump by a lot, and when that happens, it will increase the amount of money that a max player could receive.

That is why LBJ only signed a 2 year deal in Cleveland. After 2 years, he should be able to re-up and get an even larger max deal.

That is why I would expect both Parsons and Dwight to opt out after the next 2 years. So for Parsons in particular, even though it is too much money for him IMO, we will still match that contract. Overpaying a player for 2 years will not be so bad to get us into luxury tax hell. It won't be this huge albatross contract like Arenas or Rashard Lewis. And even if we let him walk, we would be at or near the salary cap (depending on what else we do) so we wouldn't be able to make very many other big free agent signings anyway.

Yea the CBA is up in 2016. The players will probably hold out get a higher share of the current 50/50 split of revenue. That's why Parson's deal is so short. What does that have to do with my post?

People need to quit saying this, it's simply not true, he was the 4th option then behinda Kevin Martin, Aaron Brooks, and Luis Scola.
