I would go after boozer he is only 32 has a solid midrange jumper and is a better man defender then Jones and Dmo. Also he comes off the books after this year. If we could not get Boozer. I also would not mind trying to work a sign and trade with the pacers that get us Stevenson and Scola. Scola is 34 but he plays within him self and is still in great shape. He plays hard and he would be cheap.
There is a time to be patient and there is a time to go all in. I believe this is the time to go all in. Dwight is only on contract for two more years. He will have no problem to leave us, if he likes it somewhere else better. Being patient this year means not competing for a championship this year. Dwight signed to compete for a championship. And there is no guarantee we could add a star next off season. Maximizing what we can this offseason if the only logical step in my mind. That means get the player we believe in the most (whether it is Ariza, Stephenson or someone else), maybe get another valuable piece or trade for it, then match Parsons. Go all in, compete for a title this year and worry about future flexibility later.
Taj Mahal(Gibson) Trade for Jordan Hill now that he has signed Jeff Green Jamal Crawford available?! Bledsoe Stephenson .... would love to get my hands on some seasoned Euros
Agreed 100% Probably add a couple decently priced veterans to bolster the bench with whatever cap space is leftover after.
But Morey doesn't force it, and that behavior pays off for us. ... And we went "all-in" when we tried signing Bosh. It didn't work out. ...And this is now a very critical time for us. Forcing and unwise move is even more detrimental now. Although the Rockets have "agreed to trade" Lin and Asik, I suspect (and hope) that Morey inserted contingencies into those agreements that they're pending the signed deal with Bosh. I'm hoping that Morey still has the option to NOT make those two trades and can say, "Sorry. Bosh reneged. The deal's off" and that we can use Lin and Asik as trade assets in some other deal. Don't forget: Morey discovered Chandler Parsons... and Kyle Lowry... and Luis Scola... and other players that seemed to come out of nowhere and turned into valuable trade assets as well as competent and impressive players. His tendency seems more toward finding other such players while preserving cap room and waiting for the right deal. THE NUMBER ONE LESSON IN NEGOTIATING: ALWAYS BE READY AND WILLING TO WALK AWAY FROM A DEAL.... ALWAYS. Morey knows this... and many people on this bbs should take those words to heart.
Morey, hear me out. We got Ariza , great! I like it. We have to Match Parsons. Time to go after Birdman or Marion. Then go after Blatche. We need a deep solid team that can play Defense, Ariza is a good start. We then sign Troy, and Capela. No need to do anything else. Bev/Nick/Isaiah Harden/Troy Parsons/Ariza (either can start) Birdman(or Marion)/Tjones/Capela (d leauge) Dwight/Blatche/Dmo Defense at 1 4 and 5 spots, with solid defensive backups. Let's go to war and prove we don't need a 3rd superstar.
Not meant for 1 star warriors, This a serious, realistic probability, and an optimistic one. Which I hope Morey sees, because it's a solid lineup.
No its not. how do u expect birdman to play at the Pf position? he's to slow and has absolutely no offense. He is a center and just a center. How are he and dwight suppose to spread the floor. We still need that power forward spot. u cant just stick people out of positiom in there
Because he's a big body that can spell Dwight for 5 minute spurts, and he can play Defense and rebound, plus occasionally score. Obviously if a lot of people think he fits, it must be saying something.
We don't need him to score, he will be there to hustle and get offensive boards, crap we can put Tjones as starter and bring him off the bench, but we need hustle, banging, big bodies that are smart and play defense. I also mentioned Marion if you want more offense, but I think Birdman brings nastiness and defense which we lack. He can handle LA, Zbo, Ibaka,etc..
