Now all we need to do is get Anderson back from the Asik deal and we'd make out with a very solid off season. We also might be able to make the Asik deal into a 3 way, like Asik to Pelicans, (Young, Ilyasova, Smith) to the Rockets and a pick + assets to the third team. I believe getting Anderson and Ajinca in return for Asik will be the most likely deal and easiest to complete. Asik, Motiejunas for Anderson, Ajinca and future second.

Sign Brooks for veteran minimum and we have our selves a nicely improved team over last years.

    Beverley/Brooks/Canaan
    Harden/Daniels/Johnson
    Parsons/Ariza
    Anderson/Jones/Covington
    Howard/Ajinca

Or we could let Parsons walk, sign another SF along with Ariza like (Miller, Williams, Jefferson, Aminu, Pierce, Marion) and do the same trades.

@DreamShakeSBN: A lot of ways Rockets can get this deal done. If they match Parsons, they can stay over cap, sign-and-trade Ariza into TPE, keep exceptions.

Can't wait for the Rockets to match Parsons now. By trying to screw over the Rockets, Cuban tied up his money for three days keeping him from going after Ariza. Morey is going to get his pay back by taking Parsons AND Ariza from Cuban. F*** the Mavs! Our spot of least depth last year just got stronger as well. That 3&D bench player we really needed.

Let's use it and match Parsons then. We need tangible assets at this point, not cap space. Maybe we're absorbing Anderson? Give me something man... Asik leaving is a blow. I suppose room to absorb contracts + NO's pick is pretty sexy though.

Nice addition to the team, especially if we keep Parsons. It would give us the quality depth we didn't have last year.

I'd love me some Paul Milsap following the Ariza trade, but we'd have to trade for him =(

I seem to be in the minority here, but Ariza should definitely start over Parsons. Way better fit next to Harden and Dwight, gives us the much needed wing defender and 3pt threat.

People wanted a wing defender right? They wanted a 3&D guy right? Morey just got the second best one in Free agency not named Lebron James.

This is an aspect of the deal that I like, thank god. The contract is excellent for Ariza. I have to give Morey that. If we were going to sign the guy, this is about as good as any reasonable person could hope for. The problem I have with this is that I don't want Ariza. I wanted one or two of the other dozen or so possible targets that were floating around originally.

Looking at the cap numbers, one concern about having both Parsons and Ariza is the tax issue next summer-- not just paying the tax, but the fact that hitting the tax line prevents the Rockets from engaging in S&T deals and using the full MLE/BAE.

With Ariza at $8M, the concern over that is minimzed. We'd be at $62M+ salary with just Parsons, not about $70M with him and Ariza both. The tax line is probably gonna be up around $80M next yr, with the apron at around $84. There should be some room to play with in terms of signing back Beverley and using the MLE, or taking back a S&T player.

So is the game plan now....

    (1) Match Parsons
    (2) Pray Love is not traded before Dec. 15th
    (3) Trade Parsons, Motiejunas, filler, CHA 1st + maybe future 1st to MIN for Love + K-Mart (use Lin TPE) right around Dec. 15th?
