Just wanna piggy back this thought to say I agree. FA and trade are legitimate and fair tools for team building -- and with the current CBA a major pair of tools. But there is nothing as satisfying as watching talent a team drafted and developed grow into contention.
1. Sign Ariza 2. Keep Parsons 3. Trade Harden for Kevin Love (+ other assets) WIN! Beverley Ariza Parsons Love Dwight
completely different team this time around. People seem to forget the quality of D he brings to the table. He's a perfect 3 & D compliment to Harden and immediately boosts our team defense significantly. if signing him allows additional moves and to walk away from the albatross contract to Parsons, count me in. He's also a championship winner who was a great compliment to Kobe early in his career and is a better player now.
And he was just put in a horrible position here making less than Jeremy Lin. My fav Ariza play is that facial he gave Okur.
Ariza and Parsons are honestly a wash on offense. Ariza is an elite wing defender, he completely shut down Paul George in the playoffs, LeBron couldn't even do that. He locked up and frustrated Durrantvin the game I saw last season and he's not gonna demand the ballwhich mmeans more touches for Dwight. I'd hate to not match Chandler's deal but I'd be ok with Ariza as his replacement as long as there's more depth signings
Look people need to realize that the Ariza that was here a few years ago is not the same Ariza we would be getting this year. Same player yes, same role, vastly different. Ariza fills a huge need as a dedicated wing defender which you can throw at the Durant/Lebrons of the world and hide Harden's deficiencies a little better. He also would most likely be replacing Casspi or Garcia's minutes.
Ariza really?. Unless he's near vet min it's not even worth it. I don't even think he's all that great. If cheap he would be a good off the bench guy
I could imagine us signing Ariza, then trading Parsons, Jones, multiple picks at the trade deadline for Love. Beverley Harden Ariza Love Howard WIN!
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that. Parsons even at 25 is a MUCH better offensive player than Ariza and still has room to improve, Ariza had one good season in Washington, but is wildly inconsistent and will be 29. Sure Ariza is the better defender, but will he still be the better defender in 3 years? Probably not.
Lmao. Some of you don't know **** outside of per stats, box scores. Ariza is a SPOT UP 3pt shooter that plays great D. The 1st time here we tried him as a playmaker, and it failed. His role here now would be night & day. All he'd do is play defense and knock down 3's. Perfect for us
While I agree that Ariza's defense is better than Parson's, you can include me in the group that thinks Ariza's defense is way way overrated. He absolutely did not have lock down defense when he played for the Rockets before. He and Parsons actually have one thing in common on defense and that is they cheat in the passing lanes. Sometimes thats good and sometimes it causes the rest of your team to get out of defensive position. I would be happy to have Ariza on the team but I don't think he is as good as Parsons, while his defense is better, his offense is significantly worse than Parsons.
