Match Parsons. Invest in some defensive basketball drills for harden and go from there. One 3 point shot away from Lillard to possibility win the west. We swept the world champs last year. We have a good team. Now we have to match parsons replace Asik and Lin with better players and bring everyone back.
Nooooo let them have Parsons so we can get Lance, we need that freaking toughness!! No more soft tissue Chandler & Harden defense yo!
Still don't get why no team is heavily considering giving a huge contract to Brian Cook. Morey has to act now, before it's too late.
Now that Melo is semi off the table (per Woj), you talk to Minnesota and Boston. If you can't get a deal done, you find out what they want and go after that with your cap space.
Mavs back up plan was Deng, Ariza or Stephenson...By offering the max for Parsons, they effectively froze the Rockets and forced them to make a decision on Parsons or one of these FA. Really this was a troll job by the Mavs, which forced Lebron to reveal his decision and allowed Melo and Bosh to renegotiate max deals at NY and Miami respectively. In the end they were able to get one of these four SF they sought at the start of the offseason.
People have to stop with this nonsense, regular season h2h records don't mean ****. Spurs would've wiped the floor with us.
We can easily get both. Offer Stephenson a 4 year 44 million contract (same money as Indy offered, but with one less year needed to earn it), through our remaining cap room at someone like Blatche, then sign Parsons, then sign Okafor for the minimum. Stephenson / Beverly / Canaan or Johnson Harden / Stephenson / Daniels Parsons / Harden / Stephenson TJones / Blatche / DMo Howard / Okafor / DMo
IMHO we should let Parsons walk. $15M/YR is just too much for him. Especially since we can get better defensively by adding a guy like Ariza for about 3 million less per year.
that's a huge drop offensively. ariza had a good year last year in his contract year. not worth overpaying ariza.
Offense is oru last problem, with Harden and Dwight playing we don't necessarily need a 3rd elite scorer on offense. A 3&D guy is much more valuable to this team.
It would be 4 players (Beverly, Harden, Parsons, Stephenson) as the main rotation for the 1-3 positions. Each of these 4 guys should get around 35 minutes - that would leave 4 minutes a night for somebody else like Daniels/Canaan/Johnson. And since Parsons should play some PF, those minutes should increase to something like 10. Harden can play 1-3 easily, so does Stephenson (a real playmaker and he was one of the best at guarding LeBron), Parsons can play 2-4. Beverly can play the 2. Each of these guys will get their minutes.
offense wasn't our problem last year. Ariza can improve our defense while still stretching the floor on offense. We would miss Lin and Parsons's shot creating ability, so other guys need to compensate for that.

I say we get Ariza and then fill out the rest of the roster with guys like Chris Anderson, Chris Douglas Roberts, Brandon Rush, Ed Davis, etc. That way we improve our bench and get better defensively. I would love to add Eric Bledsoe or Greg Monroe along with Ariza but from what I understand we don't have the necessary cap space.
