When we match, we need Morey, Les and Parsons doing it in a club with video. Or maybe Morey and Parsons playing chess with implication that Cuban was playing checkers. We need to troll them back.

You probably don't follow Houston sports, but Carroll Dawson was one of the nicest GM you'll ever find. He's amicable, treat his players right, and beloved around the league. He also gets raped by other GMs. Once Toronto backed out of the Damon Stoudamire deal after it was agreed, hand shaken, and announced on TV. Later, due to a leak, Portland took Randy Foye ahead of the Rockets for the simple reason of destroying a pre-planed Foye(at #8) + Luther Head for Roy(#6).

You're probably either a bandwagon Rockets fan or a LOF. So I don't expect you to know Rockets history. Suffice to say, the Rockets have never been rewarded for being "nice."

    If you want more examples,

JVG and Yao Ming playing by the book
    vs.
Mark Cuban sending the NBA footage of Yao Ming setting screens.

You can look up to see who won that fight.

CD also knew how to coach and taught Rudy T everything he knew about coaching which helped bring two championships to this city. Morey is trying to be like CD with McHale... Lol..

Anyway, watch your mouth about CD dude. Don't throw dirt on CD because Morey got caught with his pants down and got bent over with Cuban standing behind him pulling his hair and smacking dat azz.

Don't let my join date fool you sir ;)

110 Defensive Rating 0.9 Defensive Win Shares 14.0 PER

*Defensive Rating is an estimate of the number of points allowed over 100 possessions.

Just a cursory breakdown of these players. Obviously Morey is kicking the tires on Deng and Ariza as cheaper replacements for Parsons. Deng and Ariza are both 29 with 10 years experience. Parsons is of course 25 with 3 years.

Deng doesn't seem to be an option for a 3 and D Small Forward or a Stretch 4 because his shooting is so poor. I thought maybe the trade affected his shooting but no... those numbers are more or less consistent with his career.

Ariza is the definition of a 3 & D player as he shot the 3 at a better % than Parsons and played better defense. At 29, he only has a few more years of being able to keep up with quick wings. And he's not the swiss army knife Parsons is ie you still don't want to see him put the ball on the floor.

Parsons numbers compare favorably to these guys after only his 3rd year. I think I typed all this crap to come to two conclusions:

    1) Parsons is already a better player than Deng and is on par with Ariza after only 3 years in the league. If you think he is going to continue to grow as a player, then you match that offer.

    2) If you think Parsons is pretty much the player he is, then you bring in Ariza if he'll sign for something like 3yr/$11 million. He can be the spot up shooter and help stop the sieve we have at the 2 and 3 spots.

    Deng - yes
    Ariza - no.

Ariza at his price is just too one dimensional. Just not a fan.

I'm a say this because it's on my mind but I've got to a point where I want to see the Rockets sign Kevin Garnett if we can't get Gibson from Chicago.

Thats assuming he would even come here since Washington showed they are potentially a player in the East now and certainly have a much easier path to the finals than the Rockets do in the West. The ROx would likely have to make it financially attractive which means his agent (if smart) brings up Parsons contract and looks to get as near it as possible...

Because he is a Dallas guy, who spins everything pro-Dallas & negative-Houston (and Dallas just loves to rub it in Houston's face). I understand. ;)

    "For some reason"?

How about, he exists to fellate the Dallas teams---all that is (quoting Kay Corleone) "unholy...and evil."

I would guess that the Rockets are seeing if Ariza or Deng will sign a frontloaded deal so Houston can have more cap space in the future than if they matched Parsons.

Deng at 10mil a year is definitely better value than Parsons at 15mil a year.

You are assuming Deng is going to take $10M/yr or even choose to sign with Houston.

As the Chris Bosh situation should teach us, you can chase a free agent as hard as you can and still miss out.

Deng declined a 3/30 extension from the Bulls. He is clearly looking for more. Especially in this market.
