I hope we find out eventually. It's difficult for me to believe that things played out the way they did without someone doing a 180 on what Morey thought was an agreement in place. While some might think they're the same thing, the NBA isn't Vegas. Morey isn't playing roulette. This isn't betting a grand or 10 grand at the table. This is tens of millions of dollars and the future of a franchise. I'm shocked at how things have played out thus far, and it takes a bit to shock me after so many years of following the league. Regardless, we just ramped up our rivalry with Dallas, big time. Whether we end up with Parsons, or not, I'm circling the dates on my calendar of our games against the Mavs, and looking for some serious payback. They just stepped into the spot I have had reserved for the Jazz. Dallas sucked already, always has. Now they suck on an entirely new level. This may not be Stockton and Malone, but Cuban's billionaire lard ass is going to have a big target painted on it. A target I look to see the Rockets taking aim at, and collectively cramming a basketball straight up his arse until he chokes.
Agreed in that he's not a moron but still irritating that the Rockets were strung along until the very last minute.

Why not? They are in the East, and it would be fun to watch a Rose/Butler/Melo/Gasol/Noah lineup, if healthy. As for Houston, Gibson is locked up for the next 3 years, fills a huge need (similar stats to TJ but IMO a much better defender/mid-range shooter), and would likely bring 1 other asset back, hopefully Dunleavy. Our biggest holes right now are: Stretch PF to start/Backup 3-D SF/Backup C/Backup PG. If you could fill 2-3 of these holes with 1 move while not helping out a division/conference rival, you do it.
The Bulls probably aren't going after BOTH Gasol and Melo. Gasol has turned down multiple offers for $10 million/year. He's not coming to Chicago for $5. My guess is their idea is to have an awesome front court rotation with Noah, Gasol, and Gibson. They will either amnesty or trade Boozer, depending on how much it cost them. Signing Gasol also means they aren't bringing Mirotic over, which may also mean they could be willing to trade him.
Amnestying Boozer alone gets them around 10.6M of cap room. Trading Taj, it goes up to 18.6M. Add Dunleavy & Butler it's 23.9M of cap room.
There is no rumor. Just people thinking out loud about how to get both Melo and Boozer to the Bulls. It doesn't lool like that's happening. But I'd be thrilled with Gibson as well.
Ok. So you do all that. Pau signs for a minimum of $10 million, so you're left with $13.9 million to sign Melo.....not enough. If they got rid of Taj as well, then they could sign Mirotic I suppose, but why do that when you've already got Gibson (a proven commodity on a reasonable contract). I think their play is simple. Unload Boozer (either through trade or amnesty), and sign Gasol.
Gibson was shopped last season or it was rumored anyway. Mirotic and the Bulls have some sort of handshake agreement. He's agreed to pay a 3M buyout to Real Madrid. 2.4M of that is coming out of his own pocket.
