A part of me want to see Cuban eat his own poison pill a couple of years down the road, much like we ate Lin's.

That is a tempting thought. but *****!ng ourselves in the process isn't worth it.

If it happens that we come out better somehow letting Dallas have that contract, I wont complain :)

Actually, by the 3rd year of Parson's contract the salary cap is expected to have ballooned to $82M. That's more than 40% increase over last season's salary cap. Expect all salaries to increase by 40%. By then, Parsons will no longer be overpaid.

That is the real reason why all these players are getting overpaid this summer. Everyone is expecting a huge salary inflation in 2 years' time. Every team knows that the luxury tax threshold will get pushed further away, so they're not afraid to spend money.

That is just a big assumption. An even bigger assumption is that Parsons will be worth more than 16M even after the supposed salary inflation.

16M is 20% of 82M, IF the cap is indeed 82M. The guy better be a legit 3rd option for you.

    We'll see.

The second one isn't really an option .. the Rockets have two more guaranteed years with Dwight... we cannot afford waist a season.

We need to match Parsons contract. However, we could wait to the last hour to do so, just to make sure those Mavpricks miss out on the remaining big name free agents as well.

Parsons isn't worth 15 million a year... i would rather have Dwight make his mind up in 2016 to take player option and go after KD then and only then. We can get a few guys on 2 year deals and still be better than last year.

I just feel like Parsons was a product of the system and we could fill that space with one of the young guys or a decent MLE.

    That's just me though.

I believe Morey will let Parsons go...... it just makes too much sense.... Robert Covington just fits....

then cp must be a beast coming out of any other team's system.

we've been lucky he's produced this much for us, but once carlisle works with him, i'm sure he will be utilized properly and can do so much more. we need to match.

we play to win. parsons gives us wins. there is no replacement that can mesh (whether its 2 or 3 pieces) with the team to get wins.

the window of opportunity to make a title run is very little. we cannot let one year go, and expect harden and howard to push through playoffs against the clippers, thunder, spurs, etc.

he will be worth it, just watch.

Dallas run the same system, ie no play calls at all, it's just they've been doing it for 3-4 years longer.

Parsons though, has benefited from always having the weaker wing defender on him....always. Potentially having the stronger defend him would be like Wade in those conference finals, that game George was on him, nothing, absolutely nothing. Lance? 20 ppg.

I think it was missed here, but we did screw Dallas on this deal (assuming we sign Parsons) : Dallas lost Vince Carter to Memphis because their money was tied up in Parsons, waiting for us.

I hope the rockets run down the clock to the very last second. Just to make sure those assholes don't get any notable free agent.

I think chandler being 2nd and 3rd option in dallas with a great tactician at head coach will be worth that money. 19pts for chandler is a reality and with team defense you can put some mascara on his defensive mishaps.

Had we obtained bosh, I could see chandler averaging no more than 13 pts per game being the fourth guy and mchale going into panic mode finding a better 'fit'. Because it would look like chandler can't score, when in reality the shots are limited and on defense, everyone looks bad because there is no system to grasp.

In other words, mavs did not over pay, especially in the nba.

Chandler>Bosh. Bosh is going to be the next aging KG, can't do it alone, needs another superstar to win again. I'll be shocked if we decline Parsons, they better have a true superstar waiting, or I'll take two semi-stars in place of Parsons.

You mean LA will be eating Lin's :)

We got the good bits, 2 years at $5M and LA has to carry the $15M bit.
