This sucks. Are we actually worse than last year? I mean Lin and Asik, especially Asik can play. With all that cap space, who do we sign? A terrific nothing.
I'm assuming we only get rid of Lin and asik and no one else, we'd have roughly 20 mil to play with? Sign Lance for 11 mil, Marion for 6 mil, and Boozer if amnestied? Then go over cap with parsons? Or Deng, Marion and boozer, with parsons to cap us out? Deng would probably come a little cheaper. Bev / ?? Harden / lance Parsons / lance /Marion Tjones / boozer / Marion Howard / ??? We'd figure out cheap backups for pg and c but that's a good playoff rotation right there.
Still think Ilyasova can be had on the cheap. Very good fit next to Dwight. Still gives you room to sign a few other guys before Parsons.
With Michale reigning, reek of fail with Lance and others suggested. Don't kid yourself. Looks like next year is another wasted year. I would rather not sign jokes like Boozer, they don't bring championship.
I am just worried we might loose Casspi Last year we had trouble with Clipper& Ok This year we have problem with everyone, regardless what we do
I don't know about that. If we got a trio like that we'd have so many options. We could go small with lance at SF and Parsons or Marion at PF, or traditional with Boozer or Tjones at PF and parsons at SF. Let's get deep. Howard Harden Parsons Lance Boozer Marion Bev. We've never been 7 deep with two stars like Harden and Howard. Plus Tjones doesn't sound that bad if he's that young and is the eighth best player on the team.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not trade Asik now. The available cap space from the Lin trade should be enough to sign a good player tomorrow if it's Deng, Ariza or whoever. Match Parsons and then use the MLE on a bench player. Still could be as strong of a team as last seasons with a very attractive trade package once Parsons is available to trade and the Rockets would ideally have a suitable replacement with Deng or Ariza. Dissapointed but Bosh to Houston was a lot closer to a reality then I ever envisioned it being. We had plans to unload Lin and Asik regardless.
I really think we should offer Monroe or Bledsoe. Let Parsons walk...I love the guy but $15 Million dollars is a lot of money for him. If we get one of Monroe or Bledsoe, then maybe we can offer Deng, Ariza, Pierce, or someone like that a contract as well. Then we would fill the rest of the bench with veteran minimum guys and hopefully Troy Daniels. We have almost $20 million in cap space right? If we could get Monroe and Ariza or Deng then I would consider this off-season a mild success.
I'd also add that if we trade for Boozer within the next 2 days, we can trade him again with other players in mid-September.....ie before the season starts. Boozer's contract also allows us to take back significant salary from Minnesota, perhaps even Kevin Martin. I could see something like: Boozer TJones NOP 2015 #1 CHA 2015 #1 Rights to Mirotic Rights to Llull for Kevin Love Kevin Martin Alexey Shved The hard cap doesn't matter because we didn't participate in a SnT or use the MLE or BAE.....so taking on Martin just means more luxury tax. We can continue to use the vet min and room exceptions to fill out the roster. Beverley / Shved / Canaan / Johnson Harden / KMart / Daniels Parsons / Garcia / Covington Love / DMo Howard / ? Obviously this is just iteration of the trade....but it seems to make sense for all parties.
I am pretty sure with Kevin being the head man too many options is not a good thing. We needed a Stella player so that there is no way he can screw it up. I would rather not spend if no good left on the market and wait one more year. Feel bad for Dwight though.
Trade for Ilyasova and and Delfino and get Henson with them. Match Parsons. Trade Lin for TPE, keep full MLE.
That's settling IMO, and doesn't get you over the hump. Absorb salary (hopefully Boozer), gather more assets, and make a run at Love and Rondo again. You can always "settle" later....Ilyasova and Delfino will be there.
I haven't seen him play much, but how about Dejuan Blair? He's undersized, but other than that it seems like he can play defense, back up the 4 or 5 spot, and he'd be really cheap. He made about 1 mil for the Mavs last year.
