If we were considering playing Melo at the 4, I think Ariza as a stretch four might be a possibility. Match Parsons, add Ariza, resign Daniels, and maybe DJ Augustin as backup PG.
At this point, when all Houston's plans has fallen (Lowry, Bosh, Love, Carmelo(?)), I prefer that Morey don't do desperate moves like signing Pierce or Deng with overpaying contracts. Maybe it is time to accept we couldn’t sign a third star. But we have a lot of seconds, the great NO 1st, and a lot of cap spaces: I know our time is now and that Howard put pressure, but I prefer five solid role players with good contracts than overpaying players like Ariza, or Pierce. Nice players like Thad Young or all our euro players are there. It will take more time but I'm still optimistic in our future
I think it's pretty obvious what we're going to try to do. 1) Sign Melo - unlikely 2) Trade for Kevin Love 3) Trade for Rondo 4) Rent out our cap space for additional assets to go after Love or Rondo later. I seriously doubt Morey is going to blow cap space on a non-star. Just because we missed on Bosh does't mean the plan has changed. Our best option to add a star is no longer free agency...it's a trade. So acquire assets if you can't get Love or Rondo now, and make another run later in the year.
I'm not understanding the Rox interest in Deng or Ariza....... you have Parsons, wtf do you need one of those scrubs for?? Unless you are seriously considering not matching Parsons....... would be the smartest thing Double Chin has done all summer.
He will not have cap space for years after Sunday. So he has no choice but to use it or lose it. Unless you want to let Parsons walk, piss off Dwight Howard, and waste a year of the Harden/Howard combo. All for the hope you can trade or sign a 3rd star in a year or two. Makes no sense.
Honestly I love Beverley but after the parsons gutpubch and the bosh btch slap I've been thinking of a couple of scenarios. 1: Offer bledsoe the max and hope it doesnt get matched or work SnT for him, match cp25, Use the TPE to get a bench player or go after milsap with whatever youre able to give up without gutting the team. 2:Sign lance stephenson,sign Gasol,use TPE on rondo trade whatever needed and take back salary like lee and bass. I dont think the salaries work but I just brainstorming. 3:Is to sign Ariza,then sign bench players and go to war . I would be looking at Wesley johnson,Jameer Nelson,Alan anderson,Andray Blatche Along with giving Covington, Canaan, tr3y Daniels, and maybe a euro guy or 2. 4:Bring over Capella, pop,and lull for however much necessary, match cp25, and Use TPE. 5:The first part of 2 but instead of trading for rondo go for guys like Alan Anderson, Kevin Seraphin, Toure murry, then match or dont and bring in Vipers and euro players to compete. Now i doubt more than one of these is doable but i Play 2k alot and this is the result.
