You mean Asik the player who wanted out and Morey promised to trade?
Or Lin whom Morey only traded when Bosh verbally commited, err... lied to the team?

I was for matching if we were also getting a max or near max FA... but without one? Not a fan of matching and limiting future flexibility.

Sucks, but don't think you double down on a mistake.

The ideal scenario is that in 48 hours we use up most of our cap room and then match Parsons.
But that is not going to happen.

If we resign Parsons we have no shot at Love or any free agent next year.
That is why we should have exercised his option for this year.

    mistake squared

Yup. We could have accepted the team option and salvaged this offseason.

So is it really too hopeful of me to think that Bosh is still a possibility..

I don't believe anything until I see the papers anymore. Man this is disappointing.

I don't think Chandler wants to be here. His all-talk cocky attitude lately will fit well in Dallas.

How many times do you have to see the same result before you stop making the same mistake. Stop chasing the 3rd star and banking on cap space while wasting a year of harden and howard's prime. Keep parsons and in the next two days, pursue Love, Rondo, Illyasova, Josh Smith, Ryan Anderson, Pau Gasol etc.

The Rockets were a 54 win team without much contribution from Asik and they can replace what Lin gave them. Find an upgrade at the point or four while you have the space, re-sign Parsons, and then let the team grow together.

This is a young team, with the oldest starter being Dwight at 29.

We shouldn't tie up our cap with a bloated Parsons contract unless we can use it as a piece in a Kevin Love trade. Most likely a S&T scenario next summer. If we don't think Parsons is going to live up to his contract, and thus become a negative value asset, I think we should just him go to the Mavs. Obviously a major step back for the Rockets but we're back to cap flexibility mode. Hopefully this doesn't wind up frustrating Dwight/Harden to the point we lose one of them.

Parson will cripple the Rockets future plan. I honestly don't think he's that good anyway.

If he does want to be here, he has a really weird way of photographing it.

I feel like you have to. We are learning that Dwight was the anomaly, not the rule. We should have all ways known. Time to stop fishing for the missing link to the big three and time to start making signings based on value like the spurs. We have 48 hours to do that, and then we match parsons, because letting him go is NOT a sign of a team that is trying to contend. Morey is not in reach for the stars mode anymore. Time to TEAM BUILD.

Can't improve your third best player? Well how about improving #5-9. Get jammer Nelson, get okafor (or keep Asik). We should be better than last year with all our young guys growing up. But we def won't be better by letting parsons go. Who cares what our cap hit is this year. Can't just throw a prime year away just because Aldridge might come loose, or Durant two years from now.

If we want to stay competitive we are going to have to scramble and get as many pieces as we can in the next day or so and then match Parsons.

That is the pivotal factor. What can we do in 48hrs?

Parsons getting the max is completely ridiculous. Unless we fill our entire roster and cap space with players that make us a contender, then let him walk. We can't tie our hands for the next 3 years for Parsons.

Yeah, but first I would like the rockets to go after players like Gasol, in addition to role players like Wesley Johnson, J. O'neal or Okafor.

    Then I would re-up parsons.
