I don't know what the cap hit is but AJ is set to make around $15 million next year. But AJ could have said no _ played out the rest of his contract and collected the big money he was owed, became a free agent and got a big contract with more guaranteed money. All he did was make his old contract longer and took a carrot up front and back loaded the money he could have got if he became a free agent. So he would actually have millions more in his pocket right now if he hadn't of restructured. He helped out the team and now the Texans can cut him without paying up. But that's on AJ.

That's why AJ's teammates are telling him to stick to his guns because some of them got there big contracts because of the sacrifice he made. They know he could have left and made a lot more money.

You have no idea WTF you are talking about. The Texans extended his contract at HIS REQUEST because his previous contract payed him significantly less.

I can't recall specifically all the contracts Andre has had, but at one point he was being significantly underpaid because his uncle is a moron and negotiated an awful contract for his nephew. At some point Andre wised up and realized he was getting hosed. He went to the Texans and asked to renegotiate his contract. There were 5 years left on that deal. The Texans didn't have to do anything, but they knew Andre was being underpaid so they went ahead and redid the deal. They didn't have to, but they did.

And while Andre may have altered his contract at other times to free up cap space, he's never taken a pay cut. They may have moved some money around but he always got his money one way or the other.

That was the 2nd time he restructured sir. And that was because the Texans asked him to restructure during his rookie contract when he was owed big money and they took advantage of his uncle... But that's on AJ for having his uncle negotiate his deal.

I wasn't saying he took a pay cut, which you're right he didn't _ he let the Texans lock him down for too many years instead of becoming a free agent and making the Texans or another team cough up a big guarantee contract up front. Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe, D-Jax _ all have better deals than AJ.

It was ANDRE who asked for the extension. This is why I said you don't know WTF you are talking about.

This was in 2010 when he skipped workouts and begged for more money even though he had FIVE YEARS LEFT ON HIS DEAL

Crappy week for Houston sports. I'm in a bad mood, can we trade him to the Raiders or something? Think he'd enjoy playing with Schaub and Carr?

Yup, he held out before and got what he wanted and he was hoping to do the same this time around only the team doesn't really want him long term anymore so all it did was cost the man 1 mil.

Thank you sir... And none of that changes he could have became a free agent and made millions more. But AJ has to pay for the decisions he made.

Yeah, Andre is currently 4th on the all time career earnings list for WR, and he'll pass Terrell Owens this year for 3rd. Dude has gotten paid.

Andre has always been treated good by management and always been paid and he should be being a leader on the field with the young players right now.

true story, i saw andre and duane brown at capital bar on main couple months ago. they were at the cabanna next to us and a fan came by and gave brown a high five and said we're going to the super bowl and brown chuckled and said yesir and gave him a high five back. andre looked at him like he said the stupidest thing ever and it was awkward between brown and andre and from that moment i knew his time here is done.

well, I see his point of view, this could be his last season at his prime, and he thought it would be a great chance to pick a franchise QB in the first or 2nd round, so he could be great again.

I dont agree with it, but I understand a bit.

It explains it in the article sir. It also explains how AJ is not the highest paid receiver.

There wasn't a potential franchise QB to be had in the first or 2nd round, and that has nothing at all to do with why Andre is whining.

Shame this is the discussion over 1 mil. Doesn't matter how contracts were structured. This is currently a 1 million dollar problem, smh. Front office shouldn't be worried about looking "weak" when (easily) the greatest player in franchise history requested 1 million after not being extended. Do you really think Watt will try to do us because of that? 1 million after you already denied an extention?!!?

I'm pretty sure Watt is all about hard work and being "team first" so I doubt he has any sympathy at all for someone who thought they were too good to show up for work like everyone else not getting paid for what they didn't earn.

Andre was an idiot and it cost him 1 mil, he still has no leverage, he'll still play for the Texans this year and it would be in his best interest to play well because it's essentially a contract year for him because he's going to be cut before the 2015 season.
