You have no idea what you're talking about. To what end does he owe it to us or any other team to make his decision quicker? You're clueless about FA, and legal contracts for that matter. A legal contract has a beginning and end date so the Mavs can't just rescind it. All that doesn't matter anyhow, since Parsons knew walking what the offer is. They had a signing party at a club for F*-k sake!!!

If you were LeBron and know that the Rockets can have 3.5 stars, you wouldn't hold out to prevent it? You are fighting for championship, Bosh will be competing against you, why wouldn't you try to hamper the Rockets? How many players in the history of the league have that much influence in how the teams will play out? Can't hate on him for doing this. And I'm not even a LeBron fan.

No, it means that they can't let the on court stuff keep them from working out a business decision, such as a sign and trade. On the outside, people speculate they just hate each other and can't work together, so he's saying, business is business, not personal.

Crazy. Even Chandler has to know that he doesn't deserve that large a contract at this point in his career, but how do you walk away from that? The photos in the club and the assumption that Morey intended to match whatever contract Parsons was offered, and got blindsided by Hayward's deal, with Chandler not waiting a bit longer so that Morey could work some magic does tick me off. Having said that, we really don't know what's happening behind the scenes.

    I want to believe.

Put me in the conspiracy theorist camp.

Morey and Fegan have an interesting relationship thanks to the Dwight/Parsons situations.

Morey read the tea leaves during the moratorium and realized Parsons would be getting a near/actual max offer. I don't think this is a surprise to him given the past two weeks. He has been preparing.

What Morey doesn't know is whether or not Bosh will sign here, given the Lebron situation.

    Here's what I think Morey's strategy is:

Morey told Fegan he was more than willing to let Parsons sign an offer sheet with the Mavs at his discretion KNOWING that the Mavs were a big competitor for other mid-level FAs on the market (Deng, Ariza, yada yada). All of the Mavs money is now tied up with the Parsons' sheet.

Thus, if Bosh does not sign here, Houston will have time to move on to their next priorities and not have to worry about the Mavs gunking up the works.

Whether or not they resign Parsons is contingent on the Rockets signing an impactful FA. If the Rockets find a free agent that will either be an asset to our team or as a player in a future trade, they will sign him and then match the offer sheet to Parsons (as they will already be at/near the cap and Parsons' bird rights make him the only impactful player that could be "added" to the team).

If they do not find an asset on the market, they will then have to decide if Parsons on a 3yr/46m contract is a bigger asset than the looming cap space we would have going into next year (to make play for Love/Westbrook so on and so forth).

In any case, I have faith that NONE of this has caught Morey off guard. In fact, it shouldn't have caught any of us off guard. The writing's been on the wall for at least a week.

    I mentioned to a Dallas-native that I'm a huge Rockets fan. I'm really afraid she's a Mavs fan...

    a...

Yea...I wouldn't care enough unless it's potentially long term. If I think she's hot, I could care less which team she's a fan of.

And considering she asked if Parsons would get "traded" she's probably doesn't know much about basketball anyway
