That was my guess too. My problem is that, so what if two players refused to take the first pk and Vlaar says he wants to take a pk. Pencil Vlaar in at #3 or 4 and still keep asking who else wants to take the 1st pk. Kuyt, Huntelaar(even if he wants #5), Sneijder. Robben went 2nd, who knows maybe he also refused the first. You want your stars to either start or finish the PKs. I'd have hoped Robben would step up first and set the tone. C'est la vie.
Didn't want to be the first one to shoot the penalty or didn't want to shoot the penalty at all? Netherland was one of my favorite team until I found out they had these p*****s on the team.
The first couple of weeks I was vacationing in Brazil and didn't get online much. With the Dynamo playing like crap I've been avoiding bigsoccer, way too much b****ing and moaning for me.
It would even be a greater game if Argentina had lost yesterday so they would match-up with Brazil. Everyone knows how much they hate each other. The Brazilian players would have a chance to win back the heart of their fans if they could beat the crap out of the Argentinians.
Nice try by the Argentinians...that's not gonna sway the Brazilians to cheer for them...at all...on the contrary! That's the last thing they want...
You clearly don't play. Much like free throws, there are some that aren't good at penalties. I was great at them until I had a miss in a tournament final with a chance to beat the #1 team in the state. It got in my head and I didn't take one for quite some time after. In training, they played out the scenario and knew then who was going to take them. This was a chance for the World Cup final. If they weren't sure, they shouldn't take one.
Why do English and American journalists keep saying that we call our national team "Die Mannschaft"? Nobody in Germany does that. It's called "die Nationalmannschaft" or maybe sometimes "das Nationalteam".
Too many syllables. Too much spittle and anger flying around, so they shortened it and tried to take out some of the angry sounds.
I call it that a lot as well. I just figured either was appropriate. "Die Mannschaft" sounds so much cooler though!!!!
Netherland fan? Louis van Gaal revealed that he took the surprise decision to make Aston Villa centre-back Ron Vlaar his first penalty taker only after asking two other unnamed Dutch players. The coach thought high enough of you that he wanted you to be the first penalty taker. You refused because you could not take the pressure. You are a mental midget in my book. Period.
Not at all on both counts. Also, you don't put your best first. Typically, you'd have them go third or fourth. All that quote said is that the 2 unnamed players didn't want to go first. The pressure is in the later kicks.
