Man it is disgusting to see him smiling next to Cuban. I can't handle to see him in Mavericks jersey. Yet 15 million for a guy who is not even an All star, hard to pull the trigger.

There is ONLY ONE issue with matching the contract offer: CHRIS BOSH.

    That's it. Nothing else.

More specifically, the issue is that Chris Bosh's max contract is so high ($20.6M) that signing him to that max while also matching Parsons is either impossible (via a regular cap room signing) or at least comes at a great cost to the Rockets in terms of severely limiting what they can do to fill out a roster beyond the top 6 guys and putting the team into the luxury tax territory (and Les Alexander has a history of not wanting to pay the luxury tax even when the tax rate was lower).

If the Rockets do not get Bosh, and goes after other lower salaried targets (even one making, say, $15M) via trade or free agency instead, then Parsons' offer sheet won't be much of an issue.

I don't agree with then whole "overpaying" angle: Mark Cuban is not stupid. He did his homework before making the offer. There are other teams ready to offer Parsons similar $s. Other free agent starting SFs either already got this kind of offers (Hayward) or look to be on their way of getting at least $11-12M starting salary. The market is what it is and will only get higher in the next seasons.

Remember that Parsons asked for and got a player option in year 3 and didn't sign a 4 year deal-- this to me indicates that he thinks there is a decent chance that he'd be offered more than $16M by then.

Parsons has a 15% trade kicker in his contract so I think we'd have to cover 15% of his contract or a 15% bonus or something like that if we trade him.

The Mavs took the Spurs to game 7 without Parsons. With Carlisle and this new player, who knows what'll happen with a Dirk Parsons Ellis trio. In retrospective the Rockets should just give Bosh up and sign Parsons because you don't want to make a team in your own division stronger giving them a chance to knock you out of the division.

You already have Griz, and Spurs to deal with... now you want an upgraded Mavs team to deal with? It's gonna be a tough year.

And don't forget the Mavs got back Tyson Chandler. Maybe he isn't what he once was, but last time he was with Dallas, they did pretty well to put it mildly.

He was going to get paid regardless. What Parsons did is a Dbag move. Plain and simple.

Wow I totally forgot they got back Tyson Chandler as well. So now they have a legit defending C... Unless we see drastic improvement from Dwight/Harden to carry the team, this division is going to be a b*tch slap fest with Houston coming in short if we lost Parsons as well.

Spurs will most likely be the dominant record team like always
Griz will have our number like every regular season
And now Mavs will have a big upgrade
    Leaving Rockets potentially 2nd last

Don't really care for how much he signed for instead of the 'timing' of the signing. Personally I believe that $15 million a year contract was still out there for him (Bobcats, Suns, Cavs?, maybe Dallas depending on timetable, Boston, etc.) & if we guaranteed we would match why not wait a couple days until the upper free agents decide?

Not mad Parsons is cashingout but he REALLY hampered the Rockets future here. Specifically, giving the Rockets 3 days to make drastic moves if we want Bosh instead of letting this play out over the next couple days.

Those pictures really piss me the **** off

Best SG in the league and the best C on the league > Dirk and Tyson

It's the supporting cast and coaching that makes the difference.

Well you are totally right. We must put sentimental value and personal agendas before winning championships.

Haters gonna hate, but look from Chandler side. He want's to play, be a starter, and Morey calling Ariza/Pierce/Deng all day long. Sure he would sign this deal because it's like 10x bigger money than he had last season?

we dont know what exactly happened behind the scenes. Id imagine nobody wants to burn bridges at a young age so something must have started the deal rolling ahead of what outsiders expected.

New Orleans also just got Asik from us. Imagine trying to score on him and Davis in the paint. It's bad enough we play in the toughest division in the NBA. But Morey just made 2 of our rivals better and all we currently have to show for it is a future 1st rounder.

You haven't been watching the Rockets or Dallas have you? Dirk and Chandler are not good defensive players. Each used to be, but not any more. They will be a great offensive team if they do, in fact, get Chandler, but not defensive. Not unless something changes.
