Sign a big man with bi-annual or vet min - Ed Davis, Emeka Okafor, Birdman, etc. Also, Nick Johnson is an athletic kid with potential to be a good defender. There's a number of options Morey can explore to improve this bench for cheap to give us the right mix offense and defense off the bench.

Why didn't we trade him for a pick instead of letting him walk?

Pubes doing this is totally payback. The cap situation is totally poison pill-like.

The blame on Morey....Morey is as Morey does. There's always a risk in these things, so hang on for the entire ride rather than b****ing about getting sea sick midway.

As for Parsons, more power to him, though I wish we had another year to run things...

Likely because everyone thought Parsons draw was 10-12 million rather than the near max deal he got.

Morey really screwed this up. By far the biggest mistake as GM of the team.

We still have 3 days for all of this to play out. Hopefully we find out tomorrow was Bron is going to do. Then we let the pieces fall where they are going to. I don't think Parsons should be making more than someone like Harden, but hat is what the market is dictating right now sadly.

The Rockets will match either way IMO. If Bosh commits, we will go all in next year, thus match the offer. If we miss out on big name FA, we will probably throw some money at Pierce/Deng/Gasol for that veteran leadership at PF position, then match Parsons. There is no way Morey lets CP leave and basically DOWNGRADE the team and waste a year or two of Dwight/Harden's prime. Im sure Dwight wont be happy with that.

When you wait to sign a contract you end up like Paul Millsap making $8m/2yrs and being tradebait or whatever.

half a season rental gets a 2nd round pick if lucky. any team trading for him was never going to let him head into unrestricted free agency.

Don't blame Parsons. Blame LeBron and Bosh. Bosh for not taking the max deal when he had the chance and too dependent on LeBron. Then blame LeBron for dragging this out as if he doesn't realize he just screwed his buddy out of max money.

There was a risk either way, but this was an unnecessary and potentially very costly risk. To lose Parsons for nothing in 2014 is a lot worse than losing him for nothing a year from now.

I said before the trade deadline Parsons would get around $15 million and we should trade him. Morey could have shopped Parsons like OKC did Harden instead of making him an URF if they knew they didn't want to pay him the max.

Now we get nothing in return for him.
