Think he wouldve been and UFA next year...and doing that to Parsons again...would actually be an insult..

There are so many negatives in this post, I'm not even sure if I am following you completely.

If our starting 5 was Beverley/Harden/Parsons/Bosh/Howard, guys might take a paycut to come play here. That is arguably a more complete starting 5 than Miami ever had.

We would most likely still have Terrence Jones still coming off the bench. We would have a chance to bring back Troy Daniels. We can hope for some of our young guys to pan out (Canaan, Johnson, Capela in another year)- if just one of those turns out to be a good bench player it would make a huge difference. We would still have our room exception- maybe try to pull a Cuban on Cuban and sign Marion away from the Mavs? Our bench wouldn't be full of vet guys, but we could try to take a flyer on a hometown guy like Okafor with a minimum signing?

Just for an example, we could conceivably have a bench of:
Canaan (or Johnson if Canaan is traded for cap space for Bosh)
    Daniels
    Marion
    Jones
    Okafor

Is there a way we can sign and trade Parsons?

S&T for Bosh and bring Ariza back. Better for defensively and Ariza can shoot the 3 ball.

What the hell did anyone expect if not this?

Guess what, everyone that plays for the Rockets isn't doing it because they're a superfan. And even if you are a superfan, seriously imagine someone hands you a few extra million a year right now to move. You take it and run.

What about Morey figuring out the poison pill contract? Everybody here praised him for it, but when it finally happens to us it's "**** CHANDLER, TRAITOR, MOREY SUCKS, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!. Karma sucks but we gotta deal with it. There's a reason Cuban is a billionaire and not a professional message boarder like 90% of us, sitting in an office posting on the internet all day. Erbody needs to chillax and quit spazzing out until after the weekend.

No we cannot S&T for Parsons anymore.

Even if we match his contract, it sounds like it will have a trade kicker, meaning that it would be harder to trade him in the future

    My newest hope is this.

    A) We trade away Lin/Asik / other assets in a 4 team deal bringing us Christoph Bosh.
    B) We sign Marion with the MLE
    C) we wait until the very last second to match parsons .
    D) Sign Okafor / re-sign Daniels.

I love doc, but I'm pretty pessimistic. But as long as we keep our core with Howard and harden, and retain our assets, and keep our cap smart, we'll be in position to add a major piece soon. I'm ambivalent at this point.

Would actually get more excited about going after Bledsoe.

He hasnt yet signed, so in theory we could S&T, but not sure how that would happen - he would only S&T to a team he wants to go to.

I think the timing means all the dominos have fallen, and we will see it all in the next day or so.

If we bring in Bosh, we wouldn't have the MLE. We don't have the cap space anymore to do a S&T.

I am curious if Marion would maybe take our room exception though? If he considers us (with Bosh) as a contender and takes a slight paycut to come here?

Okafor would be a flyer. He had a serious neck injury and no one knows how fit he is now. I would love it as a minimum signing assuming he had a decent workout. Could provide great defense off the bench.

Welp we better get the most out of Harden and Howard cause they might be the next ones to split they already messed up with a first round exit IDC who they sign the better go farther then the 2nd round this year

I was wondering when someone would try to offer him a contract? I wonder why it took so long. But 15 million a year?

True, but all reports say that he will sign tonight. As soon as he does, the option for us to S&T him is gone.

Yes, it sucks he signed with the Mavs of all teams...but Fegan is hired to get these kind of deals that get his clients paid. So, if Lebron decides within the next three days, I say...

IF Lebron goes to CLE, move on
    - Do not match after 3 days (still tie up Mavs cap space during that time )
    - Trade Lin for cap space (probably through in our own 2015 pick to do this)
    - Sign Chris Bosh to max (He is the absolute perfect fit for Howard and this team and even if his skills aren't worth the max, his fit with team makes it worth it)
    - Sign Shawn Marion using however much of the mid-level exception we have to on him (he's only got a couple years left in him, but he continues to defend well and is a great team player and another guy who fills a need on this team - defense)

Ideally we get Bosh through S&T, which is realistic if Lebron leaves as MIA will most likely lean toward a rebuild and wants picks/prospects. And hopefully we can still retain Daniels. Lineup:

    Beverly/Johnson
    Harden/Daniels
    Marion/Covington
    Bosh/Jones
Howard/Bosh/Vet using bi-annual or vet min.

Jones and Daniels are solid coming off the bench, and hopefully Johnson can put in a good rookie campaign; but, I believe Morey will improve the bench the way he always seems to do. That lineup gives us 3 all-stars, and 4 guys who can AT LEAST play solid defense, masking Harden's struggles on that end. I think that's a legit contender next 3-4 years and is the best outcome now.
