True but Parsons played 4 years of college.
The progress CP has made in 3 years is ridiculous.
Behind Harden, he's the best shot creator on the Rockets.
For his size he's great at putting the ball on the floor.
If McHale and co. dial back his minutes, and he reverts back to focusing on defense just as much as offense, Parsons could be Scottie Pippen "lite".

I think Bosh fits the needs of our roster to an absolute 'T'. He provides strengths in all of the things that we are weak at, and his weaknesses are covered by our other players.

I don't really like paying him 20 million per year.

I think Parsons is a great 3 or maybe 3a option for our team. He is that 'glue guy' that every team needs. Playing next to Harden, he needs to improve his perimeter defense, but I still think he is a great fit for our team.

I really don't like paying him 15 million per year.

That said, honestly, we only have two questions. 1) Is Lebron leaving Miami? If so, it looks like all signs point to Bosh signing with us. And 2) Is Alexander willing to go into luxury tax and put up big money for a legit contender?

Those are really the only things that matter. It doesn't matter that Cuban tried to make a contract as unattractive to us as possible for Parsons.

If we sign Bosh, we would be capped out and wouldn't have our MLE. If we match Parsons, we would be capped out. If we sign Bosh AND match Parsons, we would be over the cap and not have our MLE.

If we get Bosh, this decision is simple. Even though it is designed to hurt us as much as possible, you match Parsons' contract. Easy. We would be capped out. We wouldn't have our MLE. We would have a hole at the 3 that Parsons would fill well- and no other minimum guy could come close to getting.

As long as Alexander doesn't mind paying up over the next couple of years for a legit contender, this wouldn't be an issue at all. After all, he said he was ready for this:

And Wiggins will probably be better.

Klay Thompson is interesting as well. Definitely a better shooter.

    B.S.

Parsons is good, but he's no shot creator. He's at best a 2nd option. Hope him best on Mavs. Dude deserves to get paid. But his lack of defense and inability to create makes him not worth the max.

I believe George has hit his ceiling, Parsons has potential to be as good or an even better all-around player.
Big fan of Batum's game, good comparison.

PG is like a level or two above Parsons. Why has PG hit his ceiling?

Right now PGs ceiling is something Parsons would be ecstatic to reach. He's a WAYS from PG.

Who's a better shot creator on the Rockets currently?
Parsons ability to score isn't predicated on others.
Other than Harden, no one was better at getting into the lane, collapsing the defense and making something happen. Lin could and should have been, but wasn't.

    1. Parsons has been infinitely better than Ariza was when he was with the Rockets.

    2. If the Rockets sign Bosh, where will they get the money to sign Ariza?

I understand being upset at Parsons for signing this contract- definitely designed to scare the Rockets away from matching as much as possible- especially signing it as early as possible. I honestly thought that he knew the Rockets plan, had an agreement in place for a contract with Morey, and would wait until we took care of our business knowing that we would take care of him after that.

    That was apparently wrong.

But still, if we are able to get Bosh, overpaying for Parsons doesn't change our plans at all. Whether we payed Parsons 9-10 million a season or 15 million a season, we would have still been over the cap. Whether we were a little bit over the cap or a lot over the cap, we would still be over the cap.

The only thing this does is makes the next couple of days that much more important. It forces us to speed up the timeline of the deals that we are planning and hoping that Bosh will come soon.

If that happens, Leslie Alexander would have a couple million dollars less, but besides that we would still be in the same boat.

    Howard is better

Parsons isn't even better than Lin at creating.

PLEASE BACKLOAD IT. Rockets have no problem with these contracts (Asik and Lin) and they can unload them at the right time.

One interesting thought from Broussard. Could Parsons signing this offer sheet make Bosh realize if LeBron's decision lingers on and some doubt increases he's coming back could Bosh sign with Houston first and get the max before the window too do so is slammed shut.

Heck, there's even the rumor of him wanting Melo on Heat this is the easiest way to get Bosh out the door

For some reason, I envision Cuban with tiny horns coming out of his head as he slowly hands over a pen filled with and the contract across the table to Chandler.

CP's biggest flaw is his inability to create off the dribble. PG is the better on-ball defender and the more complete offensive weapon. Because of his physical tools, PG certainly has the higher ceiling. He's a true #2 option on a title team, whereas CP's probably a #3/4.

Parsons is a 3 year vet, the Mavs can not back load the contract like Jeremy Lin's or Omer Asik's was. Not possible.
