You Can Finally Send Anything on Your Android's Screen to Chromecast http://gizmodo.com/chromecast-gets-...me-new-1595869127/1602452482/+andrewtarantola The "Cast Screen" function for Google's Chromecast dongle that we reported on during last month's Google I/O developers conference has finally made it out of the keynote and into our mobile devices. Now, anything that plays on your Android device also plays on your TV. Yes, even your p*rn. The feature began rolling out today as the Chromecast 1.7 firmware update available through the Play Store. With it, users will be able to cast any content—not just the stuff from approved partners like Netflix, Youtube, and Crunchyroll—from their devices to their televisions. This should position the Chromecast to more directly compete with Apple's AirPlay system, though we'll have to wait for the download to see if the multi-second delay that made the original Browser Cast option so utterly useless has been resolved.
tested it with the N7. Works much better than that mirror(beta) app that was available for the N5 awhile back. My audio was stuttering but I was able to play Plants vs zombies with very little video lag.

For some reason, casting from netflix is always perfect, no buffering or any issues like that. But on HBOgo, it usually stops like every 10 minutes or so. Anyone else have a similar issue?
If you're screencasting you can still stream audio? It will play via blue tooth for me, but at that point the audio is no longer being screencasted over wifi.
What device are you casting with? I also assume it's browser tabs that give you problems, not approved apps like Netflix and YouTube. When it first came out, I couldn't cast audio at all from browser tabs using my laptop. Then over time it would cast audio but video lagged the audio. Then it started working OK but I had to lower the resolution which was a drag. Then I tried it with my Galaxy Note 3 a few weeks ago and my favorite non-sanctioned TV and movie websites work perfectly, at 720p and 1080p. Best $11 I ever spent.
Tried out streaming my Nexus 5 screen, its pretty nice. Tried a few apps, chrome, and youtube -- everything seems to go pretty smooth.
Lol we're taking about very different things. I don't have issues with browser tabs or any apps. My only problem is when I am screencasting from my (or my wife's) note 3.
Help an old dude out: How do I get Chrome to cast from my phone(Samsung S3 Mini)? I don't see any settings options or way to add extensions to the Chrome Browser so I don't have the "Cast" icon on the taskbar (or anything else for that matter) The Netflix and Youtube apps have their own Cast icons and work just fine. (so of course I have downloaded the Chromecast App)
Yeah my S3 doesn't have it either, not sure if it's the device or me being on CMOD11. My Xoom doesn't either, but my GF's S4 does it it's awesome.
You can't cast Chrome from your phone. You will need to download the beta Chromecast APK in one of the previous posts which will allow you to cast your entire phone screen. That means any app on your phone including Chrome.
My S5 wouldn't upgrade either. It has Chromecast app v1.5.5. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it was still v1.5.5. Finally I went to Android Police and just installed the .apk file and it worked. Maybe that will work for your S3 too.
