Sure, you can jump on bandwagons "after USA." Go for it, bandwagoner. Just 'cuz USA is not in it they're your team?!?!? LOL Pick one and go with them through THICK and THIN, man. Please don't tell me you root for another team BESIDES our Rockets. Do you?
Maradonna is something else. He represents Argentina yeah but not wholly. Well he is the past. Maradonna as a coach is not the same as Maradonna the player. He is not as respected.Remember 2010? As head coach. He let Messi, Aguero Kun, Tevez and Higuain attack without any defensive plans, measures lol. Outwitted, Outplayed by counterattacks. Those who might go to watch Germany in the Finals are mostly rooting for you. I am just saying not every Brazilian will root for you at home And there is a number of Argentinian players living and playing in the Brazilian Campeonato, having their families over.
Ok. Brazilians hate Maradonna. That is true though I might add but that is not the most important reason. But I would guess that a major part of the country just 'emotionally died' with the Semi Final. I can't imagine everyone just taking your sides. As much as you want to. If it happens for you guys, well great. It does not matter again, in the stadium there will be many Argentinian, half Argentinians and some more Argentinians. German fans will be in the minority. You are on South American soil, man!!! Don't you forget. haha, but good luck! You are favorites, ATW.
Depressing. We didn't create anything and didn't score any goals in the last two matches. So I'm not as down as I could have been. Robben had one decent chance but not the golden one like in 2010. As far as LVG, he had to make two substitutions. De Jong was injured and I think BMI didn't look fit either - he also had a yellow. I guess the gamble was bringing in KJH and not Krul, but RVP looked completely dead out there and could barely move. So not blaming him. Cillessen hasn't saved a pen in his entire pro career - he's also crap at them in training apparently. So I don't know whether LVG robbed him of confidence. He should have had the last one really. So this won't give the trauma. The team did well with a bunch of mediocre players and one world class Robben. Proud of the team, most people didn't expect Holland to get out of the group (including myself!). Shame it had to be penalties again...
Chin up, Ace Just enjoy the final as it is. I for one do not have to root for either side. I like Argentina, but not as much as Brazil to actively root for them.
Yeah not quite true. One of my best friends is Austrian, has family in Austria, goes back to Austria & Germany each year and he has no qualms about rooting for both Austria and Germany. Neither do his father or any other members of his family. He might be the exception but I'm sure there are a few others like him. Not much probably.
I think that KJH sub was necessary, it should have been earlier though. What effed Van Gaal was one of the BMI or DeJong subs. One of those two subs should have happened, the other shouldn't have. If DeJong wasn't fit then he shouldn't have started him. Maybe he was scared about leaving Classie out there for 90 minutes given how inexperienced the lad is, but Classie didn't look out of place. I think he shouldn't have started De Jong in retrospect. Main thing is FIFA need an extra sub when teams go to extra time.
Yeah it's hard though. de Jong is a key player and much better at shadowing Messi and other dangerous players. I think Clasie would have been exposed. By the second half we had much more control and were trying to attack, so the role in the position had changed quite a bit. I also think BMI had to be taken out. I agree about KJH. RVP was either invisible, constantly offside, or the ball was bouncing off him. Disappointing tournament for him after a bright start. KJH was a much better at holding the ball up and doing a few small combos with midfielders joining the attack.
"Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win." - Gary Lineker
Alright. I was talking about fans that go to the stadium regularly and hardcore fans. This is not because of rivalry because obviously the Austrian Bundesliga cannot hold a candle to the German Bundesliga. It is because German futbal fans belittle Austrian league which is inferior but Austrians do love to have profane names for Germans and they do want to shake the "little brother" image. And of course the major problem for both is, the sense of humor is vastly different. Austrians do not care that much about losing. They just want to see their neighbors exposed. That is gratifying.
Brazil and Argentina have too much bad blood. Here's a little history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina%E2%80%93Brazil_football_rivalry Here's a video of Argentinian fans celebrating Neymar's injury. <iframe frameborder="0" width="480" height="270" src="//www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x20x6jz" allowfullscreen></iframe><br /><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20x6jz_argentinos-debocham-da-coluna-de-neymar_news" target="_blank">Argentinos debocham da coluna de Neymar</a> <i>by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/Genizah" target="_blank">Genizah</a></i> So who do you think the Brazilians will be rooting <strike>for</strike> against?
Just wondering, how old are you? No offense, just curious. By the way: http://oglobo.globo.com/blogs/nasre...ores-do-cristo-na-vespera-da-final-542107.asp Seems like 80 % of Brazilians are for Germany (or think Germany will win it).
2nd + 3rd Place finishes don't count as winning. They may this year, but historically speaking the Germans are known for consistently being great but not great enough.
I really agree with this. IF anything, root for good football. I also find it disturbing that Argentina and Brazil fans hate each other despite their countries being right next to each other. What happened to "love thy neigh bour?"
Just look at the USA/Mexico debates here. It's a joke by Gary Lineker, for goodness sake. And from his perspective as an Englishman, it's almost true. They haven't won against us when it mattered since 1966 (when they were gifted a goal).
