If Morey honestly thought that no one out there would offer Parsons more than 10 mil a season, he was delusional. There are 29 other teams in the NBA. Odds are at least one of them would be desperate enough to make a run at him and sign him to a huge offer sheet. Look at what we're willing to give Bosh.

I'm sure this was the plan too.

But yeah, that's too much money to turn down.

I'm sure Morey told him he could resign and play for a better team...and I'm sure the Mavs put pressure on Parsons to sign so quickly. A "Look, we need a signature soon because we are looking at other options now."

Can't really blame Parsons for this.

Was this the likely ultimate scenario to play out once we made Parsons a RFA?...Could this be a dominoe that had to fall first?

I can't tell if we're ****ed or if Morey has an ace up his sleeve. Hopefully this is all cleared up soon, my heart can't take it.

No kidding. They'll never contend for a title with that nucleus, but they'd be better than the Rockets if Parsons leaves. And remember, Dallas barely made the postseason last year. Imagine if we swapped places with them in the standings.

Tyson isn't as good as he was a few years ago. Parsons will help them, but they aren't going to become a championship caliber team.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how much does Daryl Morey regret declining Parsons' option?

    15 :(

Only if Bosh isn't coming. The sky is not falling yet folks. It appears Lebron is going to Cleveland which means Bosh will come to Houston. We have three days and obviously Bosh understands this and part of the appeal to want to sign in Houston is a 4th player as good as Parsons.

Let's see what tomorrow brings. We could very easily have Lebron make his decision and have Bosh agree on Friday or Saturday.

What if Parsons played continued to grow this year after we declined his option? If his market value is 15 mil, then with a year of progression what would it be? If keeping parsons is what you want, this route is the best route. Otherwise you would be competing against teams that could pay alot more than 15 mill.

It's not just the salary that make it difficult, it's the structure of the contract. 3 years with a player option and a trade kicker? Dallas designed it 100% to screw us and Parsons just gave the Rockets the finger by agreeing to what is essentially a poison pill. It was reported that Houston tried to negotiate with him directly today but that fell apart. Not a good sign at all.

So it's a 3 year deal with a player option on the last year. If the rockets match do they still have his bird rights if he opts out after 2 years?

Thanks. Just to confirm that all details of the agreement would carry over to the Rockets if Rockets match the offer.

Wow, then the only worse contract than the one Chandler is getting is a 4 year max with a player option in the 2nd year.
