Leverage is needed. A guy on a five year contract probably won't be successful in a trade demand.

Whatever, he values location, tens of millions of dollars and family life etc more than a better shot at winning a championship - I'd do the same thing if I were him.

Trade demand thing is a fantasy land, he won't realistically be moveable until expiration, I think he probably knows that. He's a Knick till the end most likely.

The whole trade thing is a joke, and probably just a way for him to justify his decision. Go ahead and demand that trade, Melo. You'll have to wait for at least 4 years to do it though because nobody is touching that contract until then.

Better not hear Melo talk about winning anytime soon.

^^^^This 100%! Carmelo wasn't going to make us a surefire Championship team anyway. (On NBA2K yes, but real life no), he's not a true stretch 4, or an improvement at PG. LeBron is the only player we should've been willing to take that wasn't a PG or a PF. And Carmelo is neither LeBron, a PG, or a PF.

Getting Bosh will make us a better team than getting Melo. People seem to have forgotten that against Portland we averaged 112 pts/game and still lost the series in 6. Melo would help that I'm sure, but can he guard LMA better than Asik? Could he have guarded Lillard better than Bev? I know he's a good player, but Melo wasn't the end all be all answer....

    It's ok.....

Maybe Melo just wanted to start his summer off with a cross country trip just for kicks

I always figure that he would get all the money
because teams always cave in and do the Sign and Trade

Sometimes they just sign now .. b*tch about a trade later

    totally agreed.

He would have been a cancer to this team. So glad we didn't get him.

There will be some idiot team willing to take a contract as long as it comes with added benefits. See Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson. The thing is that the Knicks lack any desirable assets :p

I would have been happy to watch Melo the basketball player but I will be glad not to have him if we get Bosh instead. I really don't like Melo the person.

The Knicks will have a ton of cap to spend next summer. He has one more year of misery then they get to go shopping. He's only 30.

I'm ok with the Melo pursuit strictly from the standpoint of keeping your star players happy.

You have to do everything you can to surround those guys with top tier talent. They have to feel like the team a) wants to do that and b) is capable of doing it

    We struck out...It happens.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

It went from Chicago and Houston to LA and NY, I guess he never cared about winning.
