Well, the closest analog we have to this situation is Dwight last year, who met with full Lakers brass to give his "goodbye". Of course, his decision had already leaked... so I dunno. Also, if I was taking your approach, I would have probably killed myself by jumping off the roof of the Toyota Center after Lillard hit that game winner. You have quite the flair for the dramatic, sometimes.
These superstar athletes follow each other to get rings it's not all about family life hence if Melo follows Lebron to Cleveland what would you say? Hey LaLa has to live in Cleveland? When this all plays out you will see what it really is at the conclusion of the matter. Another news flash is that over 90% of nba players aren't even loyal to their wives and family. You can put some leverage on family life but make sure your not putting too much into that.
Actually he didn't meet with them since the news leaked. He ended up just calling them from his plane but yeah. Bron still has to go back to MIA and pack right?
If I were a professional athlete who had to go on the road for 41 games a year(not counting preseason, All-Star Weekend, and playoffs), I already would be spending a lot of time away from them. Stop comparing an NBA player to a regular Joe who works 40 hours a week at the same location.
Err, you sure about that? I think the news dropped while he was on his way to LA, but he still ended up doing the "thank you for everything and good luck" handshake courtesy goodbye.
Conspiracy theory: LeBron announces that he plans on taking a short deal-- 1 year plus 1 year player option-- to stay in Miami while Pat Riley continues to low-ball Chris Bosh on a 5 year deal, hoping that this will drive Bosh into leaving for Houston instead of re-upping with Miami for a long term low-ball contract potentially without LeBron to play with. If this works, then they can do a S&T with Houston for Bosh, using Bosh's outgoing salary to complete a Melo S&T. LeBron then re-signs for a 5 year max to stay in Miami.
LeBron wore/will be wearing #23 in the 330 (Cleveland), Carmelo wore/will be wearing #7 in the 212 (New York), and Chris Bosh will be wearing #4 in the 713 (Houston)? Not sure what F2 means, and what the 0 and 1 mean though. Regardless, I think that's a good start. I still think the guy is a fraud though.
This can go one of two ways... My first thought was Wade failed at convincing Lebron to stay in Miami and has bailed on the meeting. Micky gets word and doesn't want to waste his time. For a billionaire to fly out to Vegas would be one thing, a business trip, and billionaires don't fly out to a business trip that results in them being told no. Wade and Spoelstra are in Vegas so them not going when that was the plan means they know something. Only other reason would be they got good news from Lebron and a full meeting would not be necessary. With ALL the reports coming out today I think the writing is on the wall and I think the flag is being raised. It's just too similar to last year with Dwight.
