If Riley truly isn't "that stupid", he'd retire if LBJ leaves.

Unless Miami pays Bosh close to what Morey is offering, he'd be insane to resign with the Heat sans LeBron. If he were to take a huge paycut to stay there, he'd be telling everyone that either A)he doesn't care about money(which is commendable) or B)he cares far more about a comfortable lifestyle than winning(which is not).

Riley can recruit. That's his thing. Apt he Lakers would fire Mitch and replace him with Riley as President in a heartbeat.

I can't fault Bosh whatsoever for wanting to work in a place he loves. *I* left my last job to move to DC because I love it here. There is nothing wrong with that, especially if his family likes Miami. Uprooting them is a whole other ball of wax. There is something slightly lame and weird about his "I want to play with Lebron" mantra. I have some coworkers I like a lot, but none that I'd freaking leave my job to go work with over. I know that happens sometimes with people's bosses/managers (they leave and take people with them) but this is not that type of relationship.... or is it?

I agree. With James possibly leaving, Miami might try and build around Bosh. Giving him Max money allowed by the NBA.

And since he has his titles he might choose the lifestyle of South Beach with a guaranteed 5 years of money. I think the ball is now in Miamis corner.

Why is not caring about money commendable but caring about lifestyle isn't?

Fans think players should care about whatever is in the best interest of the team they root for.

It would be nice if lebron ends it today & tells pat riley " thanks for everything but I think its time for me to come back home & end it here "

Are you kidding me? Bosh would stick around and deal with the total collapse of Miami after LeBron? Talk about destroying your legacy, all for an extra year on your contract?

    Total collapse?

Tumbling from the NBA Finals to the Eastern Conference Finals is a "collapse" to you?

The East blows. Bosh alone could probably get them into the 2nd round.

If he loves the city and wants to stay there why would you bash him and why would that destroy his legacy?

Plenty of players have stuck with rebuilding teams in various sports because they want to stay where they are.

I would not be surprised by that at all, but it could depend on whether Miami would want to begin the rebuilding process by giving a 5 yr max to a 30 year old player.
