Open letter to Miami Heat fans from your friend Pat Riley: Dear remaining fans of the Miami Heat (all 10 of you), Today, a man I considered family, and your hero, Lebron James (#6 Jersey for those not fully aware) decided to abandon all sense of honor and loyalty and depart the beautiful beaches of South Beach and take his talents to Cleveland. Just in case you are reading this too quickly, please take note that I said Cleveland for God's sake. I know you are all as disappointed as I am but I am here to promise you that Heat jerseys will be all over South Beach again in a few years when I acquire another superstar to sell you some jerseys. I suppose the question now is why. Why would a superstar like Lebron James, the self titled King, leave Miami? One can only speculate. I personally believe that his willingness to abandon this great team of brothers is proof that he doesn't have the guts to be an NBA superstar. True superstars don't take the first door when the going gets tough, they stick together. They fight together and they win together. Lebron James knows nothing about loyalty. Nothing about staying with one franchise and building a legacy like I have with the Heat. (And the Knicks and the Lakers) All I can do now is issue this promise: The Miami Heat WILL fulfill the promise of not one, not two, not three, not four before this overrated bum ever wins another ring. After all, we still have DeWayne Wade! His knees may not be what they once were, but between the two of them he can rely on one good knee for a season, and that's only half bad! Regards, Pat Riley Team President of the Miami Heat Postmarked 7-9-2014, sent from somewhere on the beach surrounded by beautiful women
The Rockets have a shot, but it isn't close to a guarantee. If James leaves Miami, Morey needs to try and push for a quick commitment so he can move on to locking up Parsons... get a S&T with Miami and figure out who he wants at the MLE and LLE. You could very well see the Rockets become a far more balanced team with surprising depth.
I think there's a strong change that 34 year old DeWayne Wade is retiring due to medical reasons and getting that contract paid by an insurance company.
By the looks of it, I'd say that's a fair assessment. However, if my body is going to crap, I'd probably think twice about terminating my contract with 42 million left on it. Who is going to give someone that close to the glue factory 4 years and 55 million? Surely a physical would show warning signs and ward off any potential big money suitors.
I think this shows us what Bosh is all about. As a competitor you are always looking for challenges. He is content to just make his money on a mediocre team, then I dont blame the guy for it. If he stays in Miami, that's probably not the kind of guy you want on your team anyway. I'll take a player with heart and desire and less talent, rather than a passive and not motivated player with star level talent.
Yeah? Well I heard a rumor that Les will personally drive a dump truck full of Miami Beach sand all the way from Florida to Galveston, and dump that stuff on newly named Chris Bosh Beach, a 100 yard stretch across Seawall Boulevard from the San Luis, if Chris signs with the Rockets.
Pat's gonna retire/leave if LeBron leaves. But Pat, you gotta have the guts to stick it out! This ain't easy.
Riley is not that stupid. He knows how to rebuild and keeping Bosh and Wade doesn't help them do that. It's boom or bust with Miami. Cleveland will go after Love.
