Not my money but I think i'd do it as long as we had Bosh signed already and Les is ready to put his money where his championship mouth is. We'd have Parsons/Harden/Bosh signed for 4 seasons and Dwight for at least 2.
Because at the end of the day, the man ain't worth that type of money. Yeah, they'll be over the cap but Parsons isn't worth that type money. If they match fine, I wouldn't do it.
There's no promise Houston will land Bosh. Don't get me wrong. I like Parsons but I know he isn't worth the money. If they somehow land Bosh and match an offer like this for Parsons, good for Houston.
That's not the point though, you can't replace him for the minimum or even the MLE and that'll be all the Rockets will have over the next several years.
Yeah if it were me I definitely would not match a max contract for Parsons. I love the guy, but he just isnt worth that kind of money. I definitely don't want to be hard capped either. At that point you turn your attention to Ariza and Deng and hope you can get them for less.
so if you're the billionaire owner and you have a chance to win several championships, you don't do it because one player would be making at most 2-3M more than he deserves per year...you just let him walk for nothing and basically miss out on your championship hopes? Glad you aren't the owner lol and that Les is willing to spend whatever the hell is necessary!
Things could get ugly!!! Melo/bosh/lbj holding us up, hope news breaks tomorrow, because parsons is about to start getting offers tomorrow & his agent is still going to break morey because teams are calling him now and have been
if you sign a max FA already, you can't sign ariza or deng.... only parsons would be available to sign on top of a max FA.
Dude I get that. It's just my opinion. I think Les will match an offer like that for Parsons. I just don't feel like he's worth that type of money. This whole offseason FA period has been crazy with the type of money that's been thrown out there already.
Hayward was still above Parsons on the FA totem pole. Remember how Parsons got torched by him every time we played Utah? They were hard against us for a reason.
This is the thing it doesn't work that way, read bima & Carl's post.... This rumor is going on a lot around here that we can just pay BOSH whatever then pay parsons whatever.... THATS NOT TRUE
My post was based on landing Bosh first. I wouldn't touch Parsons with a contract like this unless we got another player prior.
Kinda agree...if and ONLY if we land bosh I would be fine with Parsons getting money because HELL...it's winning time. NOW peep this...if this is the "going offer" for talent like Hayward, Parson etc then it might help us land Love. Wishful thinking, but what if Hayward's contract is what Parson considers his market rate? Mav's may back down...Morey may consider that contract hard to move. What if Timberwolves want their "up and coming" star like Parson and know he would be there for 4 years because they know Love is leaving. Parsons wants a pay day bad...may consider going to Minny for the pay out if they are one of a small few willing to cash him out. When you've been making less than a mil for 3 plus seasons...you get hungry. I know its a lot of if's but this might play into a chip for us. Let's what and see
First things first.... Houston has to land one of these guys like Melo or Bosh. There is a high chance that Houston strikes out on this. So what you're stuck with is paying Parsons and hoping you have enough assets to make a trade for a Love or a Rondo. There are a lot of dominoes that have to fall first.
Parsons is biggest name left after LBJ, MELO, BOSH he will get at least a $60 4 year deal.. Teams have the money to spend, he's young so he will get more than DENG & GASOL 1. LBJ 2. MELO 3. BOSH 4. PARSONS 5. GASOL 6. LANCE 7. DENG 8. ARIZA
