I'm not a huge Jay Mohr fan, but he knocked it out of the park today (heard it on my drive home from work).

    LINK

Look, I wouldn't share this with most people. But ya'll are Clutchfans, you have the time for something like this. The first ten minutes of this podcast are pretty much how I (and probably you) feel now about the free agent fiasco.

It's almost convinced me that we should probably just go the 2013 Mavs route and sign a bunch of lesser guys to 1-2 year contracts while we try again next year to get a guy like LMA (who actually WANTS to come here) to agree to a Sign and Trade. Chris Bosh is almost assuredly not going to be worth the 4yr/85M contract he gets.

    Give it a shot.

LMA already said he is extending with blazers. Its either Bosh, Love, or Bust for the next couple of years.

You seem to forget that we have Chandler Parsons on the open market getting ready to sign an 8 figure annual contract that will put us over the cap if we match. If we took the Dallas Mavericks approach then we shouldn't have made Chandler a free agent.

I second this. We have to do something this year. Our last option should be a trade for Paul Millsap, which would be a very good under valued fit.

LMA has already said that he will extend next year because he will get more money. Thus, Portland can offer him more money and we won't be able to touch it. He ain't comin y'all

It'd be kind of hard for us to sign a guy who doesn't want to come here.

Are you willing to let Parsons go and sacrifice the 2014-15 season in the process? If not, it's pointless. The Mavs route works because they have only one legit star (now playing at a discount) and a lot of spare parts, thus preserving cap room. Assuming Parsons is re-signed, as planned, you'll likely be near $50 million in salaries next summer just between Howard/Harden/Parsons. Then factor in minimum cap holds, Beverley/Jones, and there's no real way you're getting anywhere close to max room.

Once Parsons re-signs, the window closes for the Rockets to make a significant move. It's now or never for that space (assuming Lin is moved). That's where your Dallas parallel falls short.

I understand rumor fatigue, but this is not the way to go.

LMA is staying in Portland where he's option 1 not option 3 or option 1C.

That was greatness and he's spot on about Bosh. If I'm the Rockets, I pull the offer and make them beg to put it back on the table. Bosh is being a complete idiot. NO-ONE else will give him 4 years 90.
His comment to re-sign Parsons and sign Jameer Nelson makes them better than last year is borderline idiocy though.

    jay mohr sucks.

I'll take bosh all day. he's not the sexiest alpha-dog player, but that's not what this team needs. People forget that Bosh is a top 3 PF in this league. His stats are deflated because he wants to WIN. Skill-wise, he's up there.

I wouldn't mind Milsap either, but our PF is a glaring hole that needs to be addressed. I love the upside of our power forwards, but we're in a win now mode. TJones, at 23 years old, is NOT a championship starting 4.

Top 3? So you wouldn't prefer Kevin Love, or LMA, or Blake Griffin, or Anthony Davis, or Dirk, or Duncan?

Jay Mohr had the Rockets winning the championship last year! I listen to him quite a bit.

RIGHT NOW, I would take Bosh over Dirk, Duncan, and maybe Aldridge.

LMA averaged 21 shots a game and made 46%. Yes, he had a couple of INSANE playoff games...but that doesnt override his bigger body of work.

Duncan is a great player. Still smart and still has juice in the tank. But he's a product of his system at this point. Pop has brilliantly managed their miles, but Duncan isnt physically the player he was a decade ago. Still a great player, but I'd take Bosh over him RIGHT NOW.

So yes, Griffin/Davis then Bosh...with LMA close behind, then Duncan/Dirk

Even when he first went to Miami Chris Bosh wasn't a "top 3" PF. He's good, I just.don't think he's "top 3 PF" good....

If I never heard JMohr's know it all ^ss say shut up ever again, I'd be okay with that. The free agency period has been annoying, but not as annoying as a modern radio sports host. No one talks sports anymore. It's all about what he said she said now. When a douche calls you a douche, it shouldn't mean a d%mn thing.

I'll take all those guys over bosh.

Dirk and Duncan can carry a team deep into the play offs. Championship level players. I'd rather have Aldridge over bosh too.

I've read 16 responses and maybe 5 people have actually listened to the link.

Thanks guys, y'all are really affirming my faith in Clutchfans.

Seriously, there's like ten other threads to discuss why I'm wrong in my assumption that we can get somebody if we wait another year. Save it for another thread. LISTEN TO THE PODCAST. I just said I'm not a regular Jay Mohr fan. If you bash him, at least listen to it before turning on your flamethrowers.

Then again maybe Jay Mohr abides by the U2 rule. As in, if I have to actually listen to U2 (or Coldplay) to explain why I hate it, then it's just not worth explaining why I hate it. Suit yourself.

I listened to it, the best part was when they were talking about how the DH is a joke. However, I think he is right that Bosh would be an idiot to turn down 88 mil to come to Houston and that Houston should probably get offended or at least concerned about his mental status that he didn't accept it already and should probably pull the offer. I'd bet the offer has 2 days or less on it before it becomes invalid.
