Why would this be considered a D move? Everyone needs to look out for their own best interest. Couldn't Cuban take the offer off the table if Parsons said "give me a week to decide"?
there is a very good chance we lose him next year though as nothing will prevent other teams from signing him, and we'll probably lose him for nothing.
If we match Parson's deal in those situations, his deal would push us OVER the cap, but we would be allowed to do so in order to match his offer. For example, in your first scenario, say we signed parsons to a $10m/yr deal. This would put us at $9M over the cap. With the second scenario, assuming the same deal for parsons, we would be at $2M over the cap, so the only way to add any free agents would be to dump lin's salary, sign the free agent(s), then using parson's bird rights, go over the cap and match any offer that he received.
Cuban could totally take the offer away, but you have to remember that we initially did him a favor by making him a RFA now rather than getting paid peanuts for another year. I feel like the general consensus is that Morey only did this move because he has a side agreement with Chandler. Of course, its up to Chandler to make the decision for himself. I have a feeling he knows how much we are willing to pay. If he can get more on the open market, more power to him.
Excuse my ignorance: if theres a mavs offer, our window to match doesn't start until July 1 bc nothing is official until then, right?
Once Chandler puts pen to paper on a Mavs(or any) offer sheet, the 3-day clock starts. The 10th is the first day free agents can sign contracts.
once parsons signed that offer sheet the cap hold for parsons became bigger which mean our cap space is smaller that means can't sign melo/bosh we need melo/bosh to sign first before parsons can sign his i hope morey tell parsons to wait before signing that thing
It's moot at this point, but even as an unrestricted FA he could've taken less money to stay with the Rockets like Dirk did for the Mavs.
Do the people who post this he could take less money stuff ever stop and ask themselves what they would do in Parsons situation? Dirk taking less money is not the same as Parsons taking less money. Dirk already got his. Hes at the end of his career. Parsons hasn't gotten anything near his worth on the open market. He's going into his prime money earning years and you people expect the man to take less money when he hasn't gotten paid? Where if god forbids he suffers a serious injury he may never get paid? Take off the homer glasses for a moment and ask your self. Would you take less money in his situation?
Come on, this is just silly. Dirk was not taking those deals when he was just starting off. Chandler has made very little in comparison to other solid players, and should take as much money as he can get. To expect anything else is dumb.
Parsons agent need to pressure mavs to offer him a contract so as to create a dilemma for morey. Then parsons may get his wish.
I think starting @ 14.5. I think we will get him for 12, which is still a lot, I think he is worth about 8 on the court.
