Let me start by saying I do not think we will trade Chandler Parsons. However, let's say that we strike out in FA (no Melo/Bosh/LBJ) and that Parsons is willing to accept a premium to play in Minnesota (near max/max deal). I think in this scenario we might be best served to go ahead and use him to get the Love deal done. Trade: Parsons, Jones, Hou 2015 1st, Llull, Casspi (expiring) for Love, Martin (I think this will work if folded into the Asik deal) Initially I was going to then use the NOP pick to land a starting small forward but looking at the trade market I think we might be best served inserting Martin into the starting lineup and doing this followup move... Trade: 2015 NOP 1st, Capela, Johnson, Lin (expiring), cash for Rondo Sign: Jordan Hill or Shawn Marion (MLE), Garcia (vet. min.), Daniels C: Howard/Hill PF: Love/Motiejunas SF: Harden/Covington/Garcia SG: Martin/Daniels PG: Rondo/Beverley/Canaan That team would have incredible rebounding, pace, and offensive potential with Harden/Love/Howard as primary options, Martin spacing the floor, and Rondo breaking down the defense and distributing. The glaring weakness is the complete lack of defense at the wing positions and from the backup big men. I'm also not sure Harden would have the ball in his hands enough to be effective - I would not want to minimize him too much. These trades are also risky for us in that Rondo and Love could potentially leave in 2015 free agency and the trades don't seem very Morey-like in that we give up both of the 2015 1sts that we own (however we do maintain possesion of the NYK 2015 2nd rounder). Parsons agreeing to go to Minnesota is a big if, but possible considering the $$. He is still early enough in his career where he might value being where he is wanted most and can get the most $$ and be the most featured in the lineup. I'm not sure that the Celtics would accept that Rondo trade. I think their first preference is to trade other assets for someone like Love and rebuild on the fly. However, with the draft passing their odds of accomplishing such are diminishing. Maybe a Love to Houston trade would be just enough to push the Celtics into trading Rondo for future assets - and there would be no such package they could get that is better than what I proposed. I honestly think though they will just hope to retain Rondo and include him in their future plans regardless of their vision.
Like the idea, but maybe not the lineup construction. Harden to SG. Martin to 6th man, MLE on a wing defender to play SF (Marion or PJ Tucker), back up big with vet min (Anderson, Okafor, etc.). Harden at SF with Martin next to him would be atrocious on D.
Not sure about the cap situation there, but if we could pull off Rondo and Love that would be insane.
Man I would hate to see Bev or Johnson get dealt. Nick is showing a lot of promise and Bev is our heart and soul.
If we strike out from all stars. I would like to see if we could snag Young from the tanking 76'rs. Lin, Jones and NOP first for Young. Send Asik to NO for 1st rd pick and S&T'd Aminu. Then re-sign Brooks, Garcia, Daniels and J.Smith with MLE and veteran minimum deals. Beverley/Brooks/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Parsons/Aminu/Garcia Young/Motiejunas/Convington Howard/Smith Added perimeter defense (Young/Aminu) and depth.
Trade Lin, Jones, Rockets 2015 1st for Josh Smith Trade Parsons, Beverley and the Pelicans 1st for Rondo and Faverani Sign PJ Tucker and Jayson Smith using our MLE Re-sign Brooks, Garcia, Casspi and Daniels with veteran minimums. Rondo/Brooks/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Tucker/Garcia/Casspi Smith/Motiejunas/Covington Howard/Smith/Faverani
Asik to Pelicans for 1st Pick + Ryan Anderson. Lin + Jones + 1st pick from Pelicans + 2015 our own first pick to Boston for Rondo. Rondo/Bev Harden/Daniels Parsons/ Garcia Anderson/D-Mo Howard / MLE (Okafor).
I like this a lot, but there's no telling when Anderson will play. I thought Garcia was a free agent?
If we strike out on Melo/Bosh/LBJ Hypothetical assumptions: 1) Gasol has no offers above MLE from contending teams (ex: Bulls either sign Melo or are unwilling to amnesty Boozer) 2) The Warriors remain unwilling to include Klay Thompson in a trade for Love and the Cavs do not sign LeBron (so no Wiggins offer) 3) New Orleans Pelicans are in the lottery as of the trade deadline, increasing the value of our pick Transactions: Sign: Gasol to a 4 year contract starting at $8M, Garcia to room exception (this could be anyone really - need it for salary) Trade (@ Deadline): NOP 1st, Jones, Gasol, Capela, Hou 2015 1st, Llull, Lin (expiring), Garcia (expiring), cash FOR Love, Martin, Budinger C - Howard/Motiejunas PF - Love/Motiejunas SF - Parsons/Budinger/Covington SG - Harden/Martin/Daniels PG - Beverley/Canaan/Johnson As you can see, I'm pretty desperate to come up with a way to trade for Love without losing Parsons. This trade is a stretch but assuming the Twolves still can't land Klay Thompson they might bite on this deal as a last resort since they get a solid collection of future assets with the NOP 1st being the centerpiece. Also, while they might not be thrilled about taking in an old Gasol on a 4 year deal -it's an interesting gimmick to help their chances of re-signing Rubio and perhaps even the possibility of making a run at Marc Gasol with their max cap space created in this trade (the rights to Llull were also acquired in this deal). This Spanish/Gasol brother angle at least allows them to serve up some amount of intrigue and hope to their fan base (even if it's BS).
Everything you said here is reasonable if Love lingers in Minny to start the season and we have not nabbed Melo or Bosh. Because Spoiler We are not trading Parsons!
Sign and trade for Bosh, Lin to a third team, picks and Motiejunas to Miami. Sign and trade Parsons and picks to Boston for Rondo. Sign Richard Jefferson with MLE for 3 years 12 million, use rest of MLE to re-sign Daniels and Johnson. Sign Garcia, Hollins and Toliver to multiple year veteran minimum contracts. Rondo/Beverley Harden/Daniels/Johnson Jefferson/Garcia/Covington Bosh/Jones/Toliver Howard/Hollins Win championships. This team would barley squeeze under the hard cap.
Or we could Sign Johnson Sign and trade for Bosh Re-sign Parsons and Daniels Sign Chalmers with (or DJ Augustin) with the MLE Sign Garcia, Toliver and Hollins for veteran minimum Chalmers/Beverley/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Parsons/Garcia/Covington Bosh/Jones/Toliver Howard/Hollins Which roster would ya'll prefer?

Take a flier on him for a future 2nd. Could give us a scoring spark if we need it.
3 team trade: Detroit gets: SG Eric Gordon New Orleans gets: C Omer Asik & F Omri Casspi Houston gets: Pelicans' 1st rounder, PF Josh Smith, rights to PG Spencer Dinwiddie http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mmbcdgz Rockets Roster: Howard/D-Mo Smith/Jones or Pappanikolaou Parsons/Covington and/or McDaniels Harden/Dinwiddie Beverley/Daniels/Johnson *assumption is that Lin is traded away to clear cap to re-sign Parsons, maybe to Sixers with rights to Capela and/or Llull. Morey needs to get rights to KJ McDaniels if both Capela & Llull. If Jones also traded (maybe to T-Wolves if Rockets lose out on Love sweepstakes, for Gorgui Dieng), then use MLE to bring in Papanikolaou. D-Mo not best option to back up Dwight, much prefer a player like Patric Young (maybe as part of Asik/Gordon/Smith trade).
I actually like that trade. NO pick might just have to be a swap though or something else, because they won't give up Gordon and a pick when originally they were originally only giving up the pick. Pistons clear the PF logjam, resign Monroe, get a perimeter scorer. NO clear the guard logjam, start Tyreke, get a center, and clear a big salary. We fill the hole at PF, resign Parsons, and get a good PG project. Solid Plan F or so.
S&T Jordan Crawford from Warriors for Jeremy Lin Sign Bosh Resign Parsons Sign AB at vet minimum Sign Xavier Henry Sign Emeka Okafor at vet minimum Trade Casspi and Powell anywhere for second rounders Beverly/Brooks/Canaan Harden/Crawford/Johnson Parsons/Henry/Covington Bosh/Jones/DMo Howard/Okafor
I wouldn't mind trading with phi Rockets out: Lin, Donuts, Covington and casspi, our 1st 2015, NO 1st 2015 Rockets In: T.Young, M-Carter, Grant & Mc Daniels M-Carter (Beverley) / Beverley (M-Carter) Harden / Johnson Parsons / Mc Daniels / Grant Young / Jones Howard / Capella or Hill
These are the trades made after the Rockets signing of Bosh. Bledsoe ...in a S&T for... DMo IF AND ONLY IF Parsons ...in a S&T for... Len Suns have Dragic as their starting point and Parsons would fit well as the 1st or 2nd option. (Plumlee's play has made Len trade able) If it is going to happen for DMo this is the year. Bledsoe > Parsons so why would PHX do this? Are the Suns a championship caliber team at the moment? If not would this trade make them better? (The hope of DMo - last year of contract) & Parsons. Parsons plays well as a 2nd option, and he fits and fills a need on the PHX squad PLUS he would give the Suns more as a starter than Bledsoe does as a back up. Making their value almost even when team need is taken into consideration. Parsons is a great player and wonderful option at any price but not for the Rockets at this time. I think it makes them better today and in the future. Rockets fill their need of a staring point in Bledsoe. (over paying Parsons as the 4th option is not good for the TEAM long term / Bosh and Jones make DMo trade able) The Rockets have 2 max player and are adding a third in Bosh. Three max contract plus Parsons new contract will leave them with no cap flexibility and the point guard position manned for less than 3M a year for both starter and back up. (Minimum and rookie contracts at the point guard position is not a championship caliber team ever) Going forward Bledsoe / Beverly Harden / Johnson ??? / ??? 3&D role player (return from J. Lin trade and / or sign a free agent) Bosh / Jones Howard / Len
