We didn't have a player big enough to play center that could protect the rim other than Dwight with him out. How is this so hard to understand? Bosh mostly played 5 in Miami, but he'll mostly play 4 in Houston except when he has to spell Dwight at center a little bit a game. Then whatever vet we sign will fill whatever small amount is left.
Can we even be talking to Love's agent about an extension? Do we just assume he'd take a max and stay? If we can, then I'd go full bore on the trade, negotiating with Minny and CP while I was waiting for Bosh and take the first one that agrees.
You went from saying I was wrong to admitting I was right (without admitting it) but saying he didn't like it. You didn't "know what [I was] talking about" when I said it but now you know how he felt about it.
LOL nope. Would much rather lose to in the Finals to the better team in the Spurs, than to flame out in the first round and get embarassed by the Blazers. They might not have the success of winning 4 or more titles, but I'm sure most Rockets fans would kill for consecutive trips to the NBA Finals.
I am traveling (again) so I cannot check, but I am not sure that the Heat can just bring in their outstanding free agents because of the apron. The real issue is that their owner hasn't been willing to go deep into the tax the last 3 years to get the players needed to hold the team together and eek out another title or two. Players like Corey Brewer, Mike Dunleavy, Randy Foye, Nate Robinson, Matt Barnes and more were all available but passed on because of the tax.
Riley: "Hey Bron, Danny Granger is really motivated to try and be able to play next year. That's good, right?"
Why does it have to be "straight"? That's arbitrary. It's three by the way, Love didn't play in 12-13. Also, historically, there haven't been many top 5 players that have had the lack of help like Love for several seasons. I already named Kobe's '05 and Olajuwon's '92 as examples of what happens when a top 5-10 player doesn't have any help. Look at Wade's tanking season before Michael Beasley. There have been many top 5-10 players that have had losing seasons.
IT all depends on what the Big 3 do in terms of salary. Basically Riley will have to ask them to take paycuts to accommodate the two moves they just made plus keeping their other players. My hope is that Lebron doesn't like the way Riley deals with him and just bolts.
Even though i don't agree with number 2 as I really like Rubio and his ability to run an offense, albeit his shooting woes, is vastly underrated, I think you are spot on. The Western Conference has always been good, but these past couple years it's been the most competitive. Love had a couple weapons (Rubio, Pek, Martin), but they were pretty inconsistent and the team had no bench whatsoever. There were so many times when the bench just singlehandedly lost them games cause they blew leads. Considering they were still a .500 team in the West while also losing like a record 15 games decided by 4 points or less, it shows that the T-Wolves are a very underrated team. They would probably be like a 3 seed in the East. I just find it funny how everyone was clamoring for Melo but he just came off missing the playoffs in the EAST. Does that mean he doesn't have the winning mentality? No. All that being said, I'd still choose Bosh over Love because the sole fact that we need DEFENSE not OFFENSE. Bosh is a verteran, a perfect stretch 4 for our team next to Dwight, and brings championship experience.
