Lin didn't put himself in the game... Just like TJ didn't demand that he guards LMA for long stretches one on one. Lol...

Regardless if the players buy into the system or not _ that's still a gimmick regular season offense. And do you think they would ignore and or not buy into Hollins system...??? If Hollins tells them to do something _ they would do it. Hollins looks like a dude who would knock somebody out. He commands a healthy dose of fear and respect to go along with the "X's and O's" and McHale brings none of that to the table.

And the difference between Pat Riley with a guy like Eric Spoelstra is that Pat was actually an NBA coach and Morey is a calculator whiz.

That is not the point, he was told to call timeout Remii. And that's the bottom line here. Just one example out of many that illustrates players not following directions or schemes.

These players respect Mchale as well. You don't need a coach that looks like he will knock a joker out. Lol what did Portland do in the next round? Did that coach rough looking tough act prevail them against the Spurs? Heck no.
Remii how long have the Trail Blazers been together sir? You have to factor everything into the equation.

After this past season experience we will see a better Rockets team in the playoffs.

I don't care what Lin was told to do _ Lin didn't put himself in the game.

I don't think Harden pays McHale any attention. Almost every game I went to _ Harden was usually talking to Sampson on the sidelines and not McHale.

And if you think McHale is a better head coach than Hollins _ you trippin. But you keep making excuses for McHale. I can't wait to hear the excuses people have for him next year.

Again, Harden didn't show up. He played like a role player on offense & was non existent on defense. Outside of the superstars, where exactly is the talent gap we have? Lol. Batum is a better overall player than Parsons. Lopez is better overall than Asik. Portland is obviously the better overall team. Explain to me exactly where we're better

I never said Mchale is better than Hollins or anyone else.

Again my point is the players have to buy into the system in order for them to win a championship.

Im speaking facts , not making up any excuse.

    http://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/odds/futures/

Weird how the better team is 40/1 to win it all and the worse team is 18/1.

Strange that the worse team is 10/1 to win the west and the better team is only 25/1.

Why oh why could that be?

As bad as you continuously point out how Harden played _ Portland won one game by 1 point, one game by 2 points, one game by 3 points, and one game by 7 points with 2 of those wins coming in overtime. If LMA, Lillard, and Batum are so much better (as you say) _ those games should have been blow outs and it should have been a sweep, especially considering the fact that LMA had TJ guarding him for most of the time and neither him or Lillard had to play defense and Harden wasn't the only Rockets player that wasn't playing up to par. The only thing the Portland series proved is how ill-prepared this team was for the playoffs and how bad of a head coach McHale is.

But like I previously said _ You're the type of person that believes the best team always wins so there's no explaining to you.

My point is the system that Morey and McHale want them to play sucks in the playoffs. Teams haven't won championships by believing the midrange shot is a bad shot so it's best to jack up 3 after 3. Morey is trying to reinvent the wheel.

And them looking lost on the court (like when Lillard hit that last second shot), not having good defensive rotations, badly managed games and ill-advised substitutions is on the coach and not the system.

And if the players don't buy into the system like you say _ guess what...??? That's on the coach as well.

One day people are going to realize that the strategy we employed was because of personnel. If we had a Parker or Bosh or any competent midrange guy they would be free to do so.

And one day people are going to realize that Miami and San Antonio, the 2 most successful teams recently, employed a very similar strategy of working to get shots at the rim, free throws and wide open 3s.

Morey isn't reinventing anything. He's doing what the smart teams are already doing.

San Antonio and Miami have excellent coaches on their staff with Pop and Pat _ and we have McHale... So if Morey was doing what those two "smart" teams are doing he should start there.

Also San Antonio and Miami have excellent 3 point shooters with Allen and Green _ we have a bunch of streaky shooters from beyond the arc and both of those teams still utilize the midrange shot, especially Miami when Wade is playing... I also believe Harden could be/is a very good midrange shooter _ he's just too busy playing the point guard position and the same goes for Parsons.

San Antonio is also a run in gun team that utilizes a deep bench and doesn't play one individual excessive minutes. They also don't tie up all of their cap on just 3 players like Morey is trying to do with the Rockets by going after Bosh.

The system the Rockets run is excellent for the regular season even with McHale. Different story come playoff time though.

What they have compared to us doesn't change anything of what I said and doesn't make what we are doing wrong.

We don't have as good of 3 point shooters but we have even worse mid range shooters compared to those 2. I saw the stat on ESPN yesterday saying that The Rockets were dead last in mid range shooting percentage from the forwards and center position. There is a reason we don't want them taking those shots.

The team isn't a finished product yet. Stars first, fill in the rest later. Troy Daniels looks to be a promising 3 point specialist that only came on in the playoffs, Harden is pretty good and Bev is acceptable from 3. The system can and will work. The roster still needs some tweaking, a player like Bosh would help immensely by giving us a credible mid range big man and another knockdown shooter is needed, but there is no reason to scrap the system. It works. The spurs and the heat have made it work.

Coaching wise I know McHale doesn't compare to those 2 but his incompetency is so highly overstated around here.

So you're saying Harden isn't a competent in the midrange game...??? If so I total disagree.

Maybe it does... We can't do what they do when we don't have what they got.

Plus those two teams have coaches who will actually draw up plays, they don't take as many 3's as the Rockets even though they have better 3 point shooters, and they play good team defense. And San Antonio and Miami don't even play alike offensively so you have to pick one of them and not both of them. Same tempo doesn't mean same offensive system. The Rockets seem to run a knock off version of the Denver George Karl system than they do the San Antonio and Miami systems IMO.

And the reason we need another "star" player is because we have McHale as a head coach and don't have a competent point guard.

I don't disagree about Harden and I would wager he took the most mid range shots of anyone on the team last season. But we basically have no one else.

You are going off on a tangent talking about defense, which is where I will agree is our big problem. Were talking about offense. One which I will remind you was one of the most efficient in the entire league during the season and was either 1st or 2nd in efficiency during the playoffs. And that's with inferior mid range and long range shooters. The system works.

You are right we don't have the same set of players skill wise, I'm saying we are working on getting them, so that we go from one of the best to THE best.

I also agree that SA and Miami don't run the same system, but what they do run is all geared to get the same shots that The Rockets are working to get. I believe it was Kirk Goldsberry who wrote an article after the finals highlighting and breaking down how we just watched 2 teams do all they could on offense to get shots at the rim, free throws and lots and lots of 3s. Exactly what The Rockets preach.

Things need to change defensively and like I said before a few more roster tweaks are necessary to turn our already great offense into an unstoppable one, but there is nothing wrong with the shots we are looking to get.

Morey needs validation of a championship. To me, his two biggest mistakes to date are (1) the hiring of Mchale and (2) the non firing of mchale after last season. He can add all the talent in the world, but if the coach is unable to deliver, as was blatantly obvious last yr, it wont matter.

San Antonio averaged 21 three point attempts in the regular season and the same in the playoffs. They were ranked #16 in the league _ but yet they lead the league in 3 point shooting percentage. Rockets averaged 26 three point attempts a game and were ranked #1 but yet they were ranked #16 in 3 point percentage. If San Antonio shoots a lot than the Rockets shoot too darn many.

And I give the players a break on defense because it's not their fault. Most teams that run up in down the court like their hair is on fire give up a lot of points because they use most of their energy on offense. Plus fast paced teams have a higher turnover rate _ the turnovers with the missed 3's makes a team more vulnerable to fast break points. The Rockets were ranked #22 in opponents fast break points. San Antonio and Miami play at a much slower pace. We know Parsons is a good defender but once the Rockets started playing faster his defense went to 5h!t. Jordan, Pippin, Kobe, Wade, Tony Allen, Paul George, etc all great defenders who play on teams with slower paced offenses.

The style the Rockets play is similar to George Karl's. Great for the regular season but subject to get beat by anybody in the playoffs... So yea there is something wrong with the shots the Rockets are taking.

This thread is halarious. What it's basically saying is regardless of the results, "I'm proud of our ruler Daryl Morey". Proud of what? Getting 2 superstars? Is that it? Get superstars and the rest of the job is done? Lol. Man you guys focus on the wrong things
