For God's sake can we please not waste half the freaking thread questioning cyberx's credibility again? This is getting extremely tiresome. Believe him or don't, but keep it to yourself so we can get some actual news and discussion going on here, eh?

Insiders? Meh. They just throw schtick at the wall - 75% of which is known to the common fan and hope that something sticks.

Make no mistake, they are good for the forum as they bring something to talk about but it is ludicrous to entirely believe what they say or OTOH criticize them when things go astray. They are just speculating like the rest of us, perhaps have a bit more "ear".

It doesn't take Einstein to know that Lowry would be the Rockets option after Lebron, Melo and Bosh and in that order....

Trying to get Melo math to add up in Miami

Doesn't work. The author has the Heat using cap space to sign Melo and still using MLE for McRoberts. The Heat lose their MLE if they operate under the cap to sign Melo. Phil Jackson won't sign-and-trade Melo to the Heat for garbage.

Yep. Even if Phil WOULD sign and trade Melo to the Heat for garbage or just a pick, the Heat would have to renounce Bosh to do that and then bring Melo in using cap space in the S&T. They'd still lose the MLE.

There is no way to add Melo to Miami AND keep the MLE that doesn't include major paycuts by the new Big 3 OR Bosh cooperating to force his own way out in some complicated three team mashup.

FWIW(from Carl2680, who scooped the media on the Kidd story)

This could take another 2 weeks to be over with.

Would a three way trade maintain the MLE?

Wouldn't the best thing for the Heat to do in order to get Anthony and maintain their MLE and BAE be to sign and trade Bosh to Houston, have the Knicks sign and trade Anthony to the Heat, and roll those moves into the Lin to the 76s and Asik to the Pelicans deals? I am sure the Heat and Rockets can make it worth the while of the Knicks.

Since the Rockets would keep their MLE in this scenario, it may be worth shedding an asset or two in order to make happen.

I can't see Phil Jackson helping Melo do that. I wouldn't either.

Sure, but you'd run into issues.

    1) Why would Bosh want to do it? He wants to stay. If he is getting forced out, why would he be a willing partner in his own exit and helping the people stabbing him in the back get better?

    2) Why would New York do it? Someone would have to give them assets to help facilitate Melo's way out. Miami doesn't have any and Houston has no incentive to give them assets to make this work for Miami.

    3) Why would Houston want to do a S&T? Doing a S&T creates a hard cap for the Rockets. Morey doesn't like to lose flexibility. Sure he'd preserve the MLE, but the hard cap comes into play AND you are giving up assets to make the deal happen.

It's possible, but this all requires really complicated deals to get done and hinges on the Big 3 breaking up because Lebron wants to dump Bosh. If that is the case, Bosh has no reason to help Lebron and Miami.

So if true it really is between NYK and LAL. Melo is an idiot.

Wives are a hell of a thing.

Also, Lebron owns the entire NBA. This is hilarious.

Yeah that's fine to make your choice based on city fit, making the wife happy and money but really...don't say winning is #1 and make those your final 2 options.

If Jordan had been a free agent and was interested in leaving the Bulls this would have been the same thing.

I have said it and I have said it again - Melo isn't crazy about Dwight and Harden.

Their personalities are just too different.

Howard is a fun and loving guy, I love talking to Dwight and he is a nice guy, but that just doesn't fit everyone's personality. It isn't a bad thing, or a knock on the guy, just is what it is.

As for the UCLA thing, it happened... You have the UCLA PR guy say they were both there together and then retracted on the report? lol

That was just to calm things down.
