I keep seeing a lot of Love in the individual threads...here and there. Is this still an option? All insider reports have us interested in everyone under the sun but nobody is saying we will go after Love if (insert available free agent name here) does not take our offer. Is Love even in the cards for us?
Love will cost us Parsons so they are waiting for all the dust to settle from the free agents that we could sign and still retain Parsons. If Melo and Bosh turn us down, I am sure they will move Love to the top of the priority list however I have a feeling Minnesota will hold on to him until the trade deadline to try to get the most they can from moving him.
a FA won't cost anything so those are first priority. A Love deal will likely involve trading Parsons which he would have to agree to. Or we could wait until after December to trade him. Love would have to agree to re-sign here. It is more difficult to make this happen. A FA signing is much simpler.
The problem with Love is that we don't really have a good offer to make the TWolves for him. Feigen reported awhile ago that we've had an offer on the table for Love and the Wolves have not accepted it. Seems pretty clear they are hoping for something better than what we can offer which amounts to a decent draft pick from NOLA and then a bunch of spare parts.
I'll say this the posters at canishoopus the sbnation wolves blog posted an article just a few days ago detailing how Parsons is better than Klay and how a Parsons/Jones/NOP pick is the best package out there. IMO it seems to be very viable something like Love and Brewer for that package and Lin maybe to a third team. That being said I believe Morey will play this game of go after Bosh and Melo and keep Parsons until there is nothing else but to turn to the Love scenario.
The fact that there are no serious rumors about Love with ANY team means that the Twolves are probably asking for too much.
Mannix: Kevin Love wait? Late July, early August at best. Draft is over. Zero pressure to make a deal. Flip was never going to get bullied (by Love). Flip believes if Love comes back and healthy, they can make the playoffs. He won't rush into a deal.
