Shipley's. Easy. I remember a while back when it was announced that Krispy Kreme would be coming to Houston area. I had never heard about them but I read where it was a big deal because people loved them so much. Freaking things couldn't hold a candle to Shipley's. I was very disappointed.
I like Christy's, but I wouldn't consider it the best. It's on the same level as BB Donuts which is also in Montrose. My main gripe with these places is that I'm not a huge fan of their kolaches. My favorite donut place is Bakery Donuts in Missouri City. To me they have the best donuts and best kolaches.
Just had a Shipley's donut. Ah, the perks of working at an O&G operator! (The downside is I've gained 20 lbs in 3 years thanks to all the free food.)
I don't think anything beats a KK glazed, in my opinion. However, Shipley's has them beat at everything else. My go to foods are: glazed, cinnamon sugar, blueberry cake, sausage/jalapeno kolaches, donut holes
Just finished a shipley's strawberry iced donut, it was good mostly because it was free. I'd rather a lighter krispy kreme donut.

Apparently someone is opening a 24 hour specialty donut shop in the Medical Center area. Baklava Donut!
Donut-Licous on the northside at 45 and 2920 is very solid! That being said, there isn't a whole let better than a hot Shipley's glazed donut on a Saturday morning.
I'm a snob about burgers and real food that's fun, but there's nothing special out there when it comes to donuts. It's Shipley's. That's it. Stop trying. It's just a donut.
on a larger scale..the availability of high calorie / low nutrient rich food in this country is probably the reason for the obesity epidemic. ohh this is a donut thread..
