Uh if they sign LeBron and have a chance to trade Wiggins for love you can bet they'll jump on that in a second.

Rockets turn up the heat on Bosh recruitment

[rQUOTEr]The Rockets’ summer of big-game hunting took a decisive change in direction, with their hopes to bag a third star turning to a different, but familiar target on Monday.

The Rockets offered Miami forward Chis Bosh a max contract, hoping that they can pick off one of the stars of the Heat’s roll to four-consecutive Finals and two championships four years to the day after Bosh announced he would sign with the Heat. ESPN initially reported the offer.

The Rockets had not been told they were out of the race for Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, but always considered Anthony, Bosh and LeBron James their top targets. Amid reports that Anthony was choosing between the Knicks and Lakers and James might consider leaving Miami to return to Cleveland, the Rockets made their move on Bosh.

They had been in talks with Bosh’s representatives, but had not spoken directly with Bosh until Monday. The Rockets had been the first team to meet with Bosh in 2010, but never were close to signing Bosh when he had the chance to join forces with Dwyane Wade and James in Miami.

Bosh had been outspoken about his intention to remain with the Heat, but with uncertainty about James’ plans, Bosh began lining up an option to form another Big Three with the Rockets’ James Harden and Dwight Howard.

The Heat, however, reached agreements on Monday that might indicate confidence that they would keep James, Bosh and Wade together. The contracts that they would use to sign Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger match the mid-level and bi-annual exceptions, indicating that the Heat are prepared to stay over the salary cap by retaining their stars, starting with James.

McRoberts, in particular, would be an especially good pickup for the Heat with James, bringing the range-shooting and ball movement the Heat expect out of their frontcourt players and reducing the amount of time James would have to match up with power forwards.

For the Rockets, Bosh could be an ideal fit. A nine-time All Star, Bosh would more often be able to play at his natural power forward position, rather than at center as he does for the Heat, and could bring the range shooting particularly valuable with Howard posting up inside and Harden handling the ball outside.

He could be a defensive power forward the Rockets lacked in the playoffs against LaMarcus Aldridge the Trail Blazers and against the wealth of Western Conference power forwards. And he could fill in as a backup center behind Howard, filling the role to be vacated by Omer Asik when the trade to the New Orleans Pelicans is complete.

A max contract for Bosh would start at $20.7 million and be worth as roughly $88 million over four years, with the exact figure to be determined when the new salary cap is released on Thursday.

The Rockets would have to make several moves to create the cap room necessary to fit Bosh, starting but not limited to dealing Jeremy Lin and the $8.37 million his salary counts against the salary cap. To offer Bosh his max contract, the Rockets would have to move several other players on smaller contracts and waive the players with non-guaranteed deals other than point guard Pat Beverley.

The Rockets could use Lin’s contract as part of a sign-and-trade arrangement, either directly with Miami or in a multiple-team package with another team’s cap space. The first-round pick the Rockets will acquire from the Pelicans in the Asik trade could work to facilitate that kind of deal. If the Rockets use a sign-and-trade deal, rather than cap room, to sign a max free agent, they would remain over the salary cap and keep their mid-level exception.

The Rockets could match an offer for Chandler Parsons, but if he signs an offer sheet before the Rockets signed a free agent using cap room, his offer would also become a cap hold that would further eat into their cap space.

The Rockets, who have been letting the market play out for Parsons, knowing they could match any offer he receives, would have three days to match an offer sheet.

In the meantime, they continue to chase a third star, hoping that as with their pursuit of Bosh four years ago, he does not again choose to play with James elsewhere.[/rQUOTEr]

How do you know LBJ signs with the Cavs if they trade Wiggins for Love? What if LBJ stays in Miami, the Cavs are left with just Irving and Love and Love leaves the season after? From what I understand even LBJ himself hasn't made a decision yet, why will Cleveland risk it all on a possible LBJ return when it isn't guaranteed?

Except that the Heat are offering that too now that are operating over the cap if LeBron stays. No pay cuts necessary for Bron or Bosh and probably not Wade.

It's a really tough call honestly, one I'm glad I don't have to make. Wiggins could end up being better than love and the cavs could have him on a rookie deal with bird rights....

But he could bust too. If it was me, I'd trade for love but I'd be super afraid of wiggins blossoming into something real. I just hope the cavs get lebron back so we can have bosh.

Actually this is a conspiracy theory I can definitely get behind. Why did Irving re-sign so fast? He was disgruntled if I recall correctly. That team was in total disarray at the end of last year. Luol Deng, a fellow Dukie and likely mentor candidate for Irving, saw what went down, wanted no part in it, and is probably headed out ASAP.

Nonetheless Irving came back. And since Lebron left, Cleveland has been "lucky" with 3 #1 picks, including a #1 and #4 two years ago inexplicably. What was it that made the league decided Cleveland needed all these picks after Lebron left? Could it be that the league office has been trying to orchestrate a #TheReturn ever since Lebron packed his bags in 2010?

Well I hope Bosh does what is good for him and signs with Houston, I mean seriously, combine the max contract with the tax free status and he could be earning up to 12M what Miami can give him per year. More than just the money though, I hope he realizes LBJ is such an overpowering player there will never be a bigX with him around...just a big 1 with 1-2 sidekicks. Just like with MJ, Pippen could've been seen as franchise superstars in their own right and might've been regarded as the GOAT rival to MJ just like how Prime Tmac was to Kobe, however in history's eyes he'll always be the robin to MJ's Batman.

In Houston, he can start to build his legacy with a real big 3 and contend for multiple rings. In Miami, Bosh will always be known as an undersized C who is used for spacing.

It'd be contingent on Lebron going to Cleveland (which I do believe is happening).
Cavs have probably already negotiated a deal with Minnesota and they'll roll the Jarrett Jack trade into it. I think if they include Wiggins, it's an easy deal to pull off. If they decide not too, they would have to trade everything else to make the deal work with Minnesota. But, I think Cleveland is looking for a solid "yes" from Minnesota to tell Lebron so that's why I believe Wiggins will be in the package. And yes, Wiggins is still an unkown, half of the #1 overall picks don't become superstars.

Assuming we S&T for Bosh, and we do receive the MLE and BAE, who could we pick up? Perhaps the pessimism is picking up, but it seems a lot of role players we'd like are getting snatched up.

Why is this happening... Bosh isn't a huge improvement over Patterson in mchales offense. Not worth the max at his age.........

Rajon rondo... Kevin love ... Kyle Lowry... None of them were taken seriously why??? Bosh and Gasols are hardly the missing piece. QUOTE ME ON THAT

Bosh is the perfect fit. Beaten to death bc it's true.

Turned 30 this year and in his prime. He needs some rest.. He'll get it in Houston.

I agree. I do not believe Bosh is worth this much money at his age as well.

As others have said you do that trade 100 out of 100 times and never look back. It's really not a tough decision at all.

Pretty sure Florida also has no state income tax. So no tax savings.
