Look... Bosh is staying in Miami if Lebron is. So really you have to ask yourself: Do these signings move the needle at all for Lebron?

Not really. Maybe I'm biased. How is this team dramatically better than the one they fielded last year?

Sure, it's a game-changer, if you accept the premise that all LeBron required to re-sign was an MLE-level signing (McRoberts) and an LLE guy (Granger). I find that hard to believe, given that Miami had those assets at their disposal regardless. Why opt out, why have the Big 3 summit, why talk about taking less money and bring up names like Carmelo, Lowry, Deng, Ariza, etc.?

Just like there was no way Wade would opt out of his deal without a concrete plan. Oops. People are making way too many assumptions. This is the best player on the planet, people are going to take calculated risks if it increases their odds.

I like Rondo, but I like Love more with this current team. Beverley is a player we need in our starting lineup because of his defense, grit, and energy. The PF position is our weak link.

They don't need to be dramatically better to convince Lebron to saddle up again, they just need to be better.

Lebron liking McRoberts and Granger is all that it takes. The idea that Riley targeted these two guys in particular without Lebron's endorsement is silly.

He may still bolt, but the most likely outcome is the same as it always has been.

You're referring to if the Big 3 got max deals like what you and I agreed to earlier.

LabMouse referred the Heat getting Bosh and Wade at discounts ($17 and $15, respectively) but their cap figures don't match up to make the Heat a team "operating under capped" terms.

Basically, the Big 3 are getting $20 mill a year IMO. That or Wade takes a bit less ($17 million) while Bosh and LeBron gets maxed.

Any word yet of what the Rockets are trying to do this off season?

Not in here sir. This is where we try to make sense of how Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger are enough to convince LeBron that he's going to get his 3rd ring staying in Miami.

Using the numbers in your post plus Haslem at 3 and then cap holds for the rest of the spots gets you to 63. You get there faster if they resign Ray Allen (which they will.)

Also, tell me if I'm wrong, but couldn't they have signed those players using the MLE and room exception had the big 3 not opted out? It seems like they're accomplishing something that they could have accomplished anyway (before the opt-out). I feel like they intend to jettison someone. Either Wade or Bosh.

Why does it have to be dramatically better? They went to Finals this year, did they?
