Isn't it Broussard's job to know these things? How does he not know this stuff yet?

Get this deal locked up, retain Parsons and let's go to war.

    Beverly/Canaan
    Harden/Daniels/ Johnson
    Parsons/ Garcia / Casspi/ Covington
    Bosh/Jones
    Dwight/ DMO

Anyone know what the first year would be in each scenario? 4/86 and 4/96?
That would help determine who's being shipped. Obviously Asik 8,374,646 and Lin 8,374,646 + ?, maybe DMo @ 1,483,920 = 18,233,212 for first year of the contract.

I believe we probably did offer the max, and I also believe Broussard probably reported the wrong number.

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q16

Chris Bosh has been in the NBA 10 years.

His max salary is EITHER of the following two:
35% of the salary cap for 4 years
    OR
105% of his previous year's salary

Bosh made 19.067 million last year, so his max deal based on that math would be (21.07x4) 4 years 84.28 million.

Using the 35% number it would be somewhere around $88 million depending on the actual salary cap.

Edit: numbers are all +/- hundreds of thousands depending one exact dollar figures.

He's grandfathered in the sense he can always get 105% of his last year's salary. He's never required to take a paycut under the CBA.

Could Bosh's agent be waiting until the salary cap #s are out before signing a deal for 105%? I think it'll be mid-July for the league to finish crunching its numbers.

Agreed and that's what really matters.

I believe him that the max was offered and that is the scoop, plus the idea that it is being considered. The numbers aren't all that important since most reporters can't get it right anyway.

The league already has an idea what the cap is and I'm sure any offer to Bosh would be set on the idea that if they are giving him the max they are giving him the max regardless of whether that means they have to tack an extra 100-500K on because the cap was a little higher than projected.

so heat offering $14mill and we go all the way up to $21-22 then open the door for melo to go there? Or Lebron leaves and we are the best option for bosh even at $16-18mill on a winning team with the cap space ?

Morey don't get F'ed over here!

Could you imagine someone in Melo's camp reading Broussard's tweet or watching ESPN and telling Melo "hey they offered you X and just offered Bosh more." If we could offer bosh 96 million we would have offered Melo the same contract. Still amazes me how Broussard has a job.
