Yes, Rondo's salary would be a big problem in this hypothetical FAB5 scenario. You'd be right around 80 million for your starting five. You'd get hard capped so fast...
Not a terrible idea, considering the laughingstock that was Bucher/Broussard. It's a shame that Windhorst and Shelbourne appear to be no better. I don't understand it. Schefter/Mort/Clayton are solid with NFL stuff, so why ESPN lacking so much when it comes to NBA?
Rondo would be a bad fit on this team. Cannot shoot or play off ball. Rondo absolutely a ball dominant pg that needs the ball in his hands to be effective.
Pass him the ball and let him ISO, and set picks for him. Then increase your ratings on 3's and on-ball defense.
the more I think about it the less I like the idea of Rondo on this team. Sure he's a good defender, but so is Beverley. He's a great passer too but that would take the ball out of Harden's hands and that's bad. He also can't shoot for ****. He's a good player in a vacuum but on this team he's a very bad fit.
I agree......as crazy as this sounds I don't think PG is our big problem like others on here. If we upgrade the 4 and keep Parsons I think that is enough to compete for a championship.
We just have no need for a ball dominant PG. Thats not how you would build a proper support cast around Harden. 3&D at the PG and SF position, PF that can space the floor and knock down the 3 and support the paint, and of course Howard dominating the paint. We need to get a player that can ignite a spark off the bench though and run the offense like Mayo or Crawford.
Lol no. I'm not about to make my "my player" a career role player and journeyman by being a 3&D type of player.
They take rumors and through them against the wall....do that over and over again. Then fans who live and die by what they say take it out on the players because the PLAYERS are up and down....when in fact the players aren't saying anything. The media is completely out of control....no regulations. They say what they want and all they have to do is say "My Sources" before the rumor they write/say. Complete joke of journalism IMO
Im pretty sure its impossible without giving up Parsons though, not only would we not have enough assets to get Rondo but financially with matching up salaries, we wouldn't have anybody after gutting the roster to sign Bosh for max. If Morey is willing to give up Parsons, and Parsons is willing to go to Boston in a s&t, I warmly welcome Rondo!
I'd prefer Beverly as well but I don't there is an argument that Rondo isn't the superior player. Beverly provides spacing that Rondo cannot but imagine if we could have both and have a guard rotation of Beverly Harden and Rondo. That would be incredible.
I don't understand how this works actually looking at the salary discrepancy maybe the trade machine is busted.
He hasn't played off the ball enough here for me to determine that, he seemed fine with ball handler Westbrook in OKC.
huh? We wouldn't have enough assets to entice Celts to part with Rondo if we keep Parsons. They certainly don't need more picks, so a deal centered around TJones + Picks for Rondo just doesn't seem like the best deal on the table. I'm sure Celts could do better.
Fine yes, but it was far from ideal. When you have the pieces you have to make it work, but I don't see why they would make the trade for Rondo knowing that they already have a primary ball-handler in Harden. IMO Rondo isn't good enough to justify taking the ball out of Harden's hands.
